How good will he be?

Honestly I think your numbers are pretty accurate. Probably add a block in there as well.

Re: Jason Thompson
I don't know if he will play 33 minutes. If so I think those numbers could be accurate. The Kings with a guy who averages 9.5 rebounds a game though....That doesn't even sound right.
KANGZZZZZ!

Re: Jason Thompson
I have no idea. I'm going to go conservative and say 13.5 ppg, 8.6 rpg, 1.5 apg, 0.8 bpg in 32 mpg.

Re: Jason Thompson
Yeah I gotta agree that he won't see 33 minutes a night. He STILL makes too many silly fouls and with the replacement refs being whistle happy, I bet his AVERAGE is in the neighborhood of 28 minutes a night.
At that pace I imagine him getting 13-14 points and 8-9 rpg along with a just under a block and steal a game with very good ercenages like 51% FG and 77% FT

Thanks, i meant blocks not steals. I'm surprised you guys think it's a bit of a stretch for him to get 33 mins. You're right about foul trouble - that likely will affect his mins in some games, but overall i figure the mins are his to start and finish a game.

Re: Jason Thompson
The stupid Kings better start getting their freaking bigs some touches or who knows what they will put. Both he and Hawes already had a game where they only got 3 touches (out of 2 games played). The end of last year both were getting 10+. The question is will the Kings be more balanced or stay in love with too much with Martin and Evans. If they are balanced the team will be hard to stop everyone with their bigs getting enough touches.
Yes he does still do some dumb fouls but those will come around.
I could see him putting up 18/10/1 I have no idea right now how many touches he will get. I think when Hawes got injured there are no other Kings big guys who can run plays except Hawes so Portland was able to focus on him. Hopefully the touches will come to to balance the floor and Hawes will be healthy soon.
I think it is still too early to call right now because Westphal has to play a bunch of players who won't play as much in the regular season.

Sweet.
In other words you see him putting up numbers similar to Duncan/Gasol/Ming/West...

Well, and somewhat similar to Zach Randolph, David Lee, Paul Millsap, etc. too. It's not like only superstar players produce numbers like that. Production is production. Now being a capable number 1 option and producing is the key.
I don't think he's there, nor is this the type of team right now where a player like Jason is going to come close to those kind of numbers. In a system where he can get easy baskets left and right??? It's possible. Too many other mouths to feed. If he's playing starters minutes he better be pulling down close to 10 boards though considering the reasons he was drafted and where he was drafted.

29 minutes
13.6 Point Per Game
8.9 Rebounds Per Game
1.1 Blocks Per Game
To many fouls will cost him some minutes.

Re: Jason Thompson
If we had SOME kind of relief at the b/u 4/5, I think that he might not feel the need to be quite as aggressive early and the foul trouble would ease up. We have a HUGE issue right now with capable b/u's in the frontcourt. I am holding out some hope that Donte has put on some muscle weight and is really serious about dedicating himself to being a better defender at any position. Having a 6'10" multi-position defender is a luxury that we have never really had before.

Re: Jason Thompson
Thompson's personal goal is to average a dbl-dbl for the year. To be honest, I don't think he would average that consistently in the season. Sure, he can average a dbl-dbl in spurts. I would like to say that he would average roughly: 12-15 points, 8-9.5 rebounds and over a block per game.
That's still a fantastic achievement by him.

What would everyone prefer? 15/7 or 12/10?

Re: Jason Thompson
I would rather want an increase of rebounds not points fro Thompson IMO.
Just last year, he averaged 7 rebounds per game. I would be disappointed if he averaged that again. I don't care about the increase of points at the expense of rebounding IMO.
If you take a look at his starting numbers from last year: 12 points and 8 rebounds. If he improves on his numbers i.e. rebounding and stays around the same offensively (even though I would expect a point increase correlating with more rebounding i.e. more opportunities to score) I would be very content.
So, 12/10 for me.

Re: Jason Thompson
I'll be honest, I'd rather see 2-5 more ppg from Thompson than from the backcourt/swing positions. Thompson's additional ppg will likely come through less shots because he is shooting a higher fg% to get there as an inside player. The same points coming from the perimeter are going to take at least 20-30% more shots to accomplish. I am not saying that I do not want to see the rebounds, but i would like to see the scoring increase as well. In addition, he is a good FT% shooter, so if he gets more inside attempts it just follows that he is likely to get at least half of those points through increasing FT attempts.

Re: Jason Thompson
^^ Well, unless you're talking about Kevin, who is one of the most efficient scorers in the league, and considerably more efficient than Jason.

12/10, that illusion of the ever important "double double" brings some nice pub and could create more value for JT around the league.

Value?
Or do you mean recognition?
