Draft pick and who we sign
No threads have been made about how our draft pick influences our free agent choices. I really like Cole Aldrich. John Wall is going to be pretty hard to acquire. We obviously don't need another power forward like Favors, Henson, Davis, or Monroe. That pretty much leaves us with center Aldrich, combo guard Warren (like we need that right now), and combo forward Aminu (...maybe).
Then pursue Joe Johnson. We stopped the Knicks from getting Flynn, Rubio, and Sessions. We can do it once more right? We have our own run-and-gun system (assuming it works), we can throw away cash too, plus we have a better foundation anyway. All that's needed maybe is an upgrade at small forward and we never have to hear the words rebuilding ever again.
We would then hold the rights to this team
Rubio/Flynn
Johnson/Sessions/Ellington
Gomes/Brewer
Love/Pekovic
Jefferson/Aldrich/Hollins

I wouldn't pass on Favors just because we have Love and Jefferson.

Just to be clear the list I'm working off of is draft express.

You don't sign a top 5 pick to sit on the bench. So if you get Aldrich, its really saying you want to trade Jefferson. [You pay a top pick too much to have them sit .]
The best options for the wolves are wing players, because as you said we have jefferson and Love and Sessions/Flynn
[I think Rubio arrives too late (because it will take a year or two for him to develop and guys like Jefferson, Love etc won't want to wait 3 or 4 years) and is traded probably next summer.]
Evan Turner 6' 7" SG/SF - at this point he is ideal.
Al-Farouq Aminu 6' 8" SF/PF [like we need more PF] he would need to improve his 3 pointer.
Warren could be good at shooting guard... if Sessions can't do it well enough..[Warren is only 1 inch taller than Sessions.]
If we were choosing as late as 10th...I'd think about Monroe as a backup Center/PF [but still might be too high a pick for a back up.]
the wolves lose their pick above 10th...
But could get Charlotte's or Utah's.
Next year isn't a great year for wings.... there are lots of big men.....I'd guess we use the later first round pick(s) for a back up Center/PF.
If we get more than one of Charlottes and Utahs....we could trade a good young big for a wing on another team........
James Anderson could be a good late pickup at wing
6'6" SG/SF - very good shooter.
Xavier Henry could also be another wing possibility.
6'6" - SG [He'll be a freshman this year.]

Re: Draft pick and who we sign
The Char pick could be nice.
The 3 I am high on are...
-Aldrich as a legit center 3rd big man option (Pekovic as a trade then)
-Evan Turner (*forced this numerous times)
-John Henson (He is a SF, trust me) He could be had with the Char pick, develop a little bit, and then start at the 3 for us. Skinny, but great athletic ability, smart passer, plays tough, smooth jumper. He was a college sg prospect at 6'4 and is now a legit 6'10 and growing.

I know that Dwyane Wade is used in about every comparison these days but I think John Wall compares to him pretty favorably. Granted he's a point guard, but I think he has the size and athleticism to be a good shooting guard.

you'll get no arguments from me, I know I wouldn't be the one to pass John Wall if the opportunity to draft him were to arise

Re: Draft pick and who we sign
I don't see any connection between FA signing and drafting. Any FA signing (or trade) will be for someone that Kahn and Rambis feel is the best fit for the team and will improve the team (i.e., someone like J. Johnson or K. Martin or G. Wallace...). If Kahn showed me anything this year, it is that he will draft whoever has the greatest value regardless of position. So I think he will have his favorites but he will draft BPA and, if need be, trade that asset for someone else.

When you're a bad team you need to acquire talent first. Draft BPA, unless of course it's another 6'9" PF or PG that's not better than what we have. Nothing wrong with having extra trade chips. Plus, S&T is always an option with our cap space.

Re: Draft pick and who we sign
I'm missing the irony. I'd prefer us not to draft another 6'9" PF, we already have two. Nor a PG, since we already have the rights to 3 young PGs, unless he's better than what we have, John Wall. So to make it more clear, guys I'm not interested in, even though they may be good players; Favors, Monroe, Aminu, Davis, Patterson... Not much for PGs at the top of the draft, other than Wall, of course.
Still confused?

We had a superior PF to Kevin Love on the team before we drafted him, yet you support that pick. Fine, you don't like OJ Mayo, how about Eric Gordon, or Brook Lopez instead? I'm not really upset about the situation anymore I'm just trying to have a discussion. I'll especially be pleased if Rubio eventually does play for the Wolves, or we acquire a great asset through a trade with him.
Aminu is arguably a small forward. I know there is some concern that he might be a PF, but we'll have to wait and see how he develops this year.
I too, would select John Wall as I made it very clear in my first post. So as one can plainly see, i'm not "all about FIT!" if the talent available has a chance to be a superstar. I'm only about fit if the talent level is equal or in the least negligible.

It's not so much that I don't like OJ Mayo, I just don't like him on the Wolves. Same with Eric Gordon, but for different reasons. Especially with the team we had last year. Gordon is an EXCELLENT player, but as a very under-sized SG, he wouldn't have been a good pair with Foye, and not with the team we have here this season. Although, I think he'd pair well with Rubio. That would be a fun backcourt. Brook Lopez I definitely like, and hindsight being 20/20, if we could have traded Mayo to the Nets for Lopez and a package that's comparable to the drop from 3 to 10 as opposed to 3 to 5, then I'd have loved that. Must also consider the pieces we got for trading for Love definitely tip the scale over Mayo.
Anyways, back on topic...
Aminu has the frame to be a SF, but I think his skillset is going to be as a PF, unless he can develop an outside shot and improve his ball-handling even further. Tyrus Thomas clone? Not someone I'd want at SF.
We're in need of a game changing wing player, preferably someone who can come through in the clutch, and be a leader. Aminu's available in the range we should be at with our 1st round pick, but he's more of a contributor than a game changer. I'd MUCH rather have Evan Turner at SF than Aminu. But my hope is that Turner becomes a huge SG for us.
