Kaman shares his thoughts on the play of Baron and Butler

Still, having urged restraint, Kaman does sound optimistic, not only about his own game but his teammates, offering pertinent observations on point guard Baron Davis, who is in his second season with the Clippers, and swingman Rasual Butler, a newcomer.

"Baron's playing a lot better," Kaman said. "He's leading the team better. And he's being more and more of a leader than he was last year. He's being patient. He's not overdoing it, overthinking it.

"We don't need him to score 25 points and that was hard for him going from Golden State, scoring all the points and coming in here. We have such an even team across the board -- so many guys -- everybody can score."

As for Butler, he is finally getting the chance to show all of his weapons, Kaman said.

"When you play with Chris Paul, I don't think you have a whole lot else you need to do," he said. "Just go to the corner and wait, Chris Paul will find you. You don't need to do anything else with a guy like that.

"He's really shown some aspects of his game that you've never seen before. I think he's still getting used to us as well because he's not used to doing that the last few years. He has a great opportunity to show what he's capable of doing."

Lisa Dillman, LA Times

Last but certainly not least...Happy Birthday to the Wizard of Westwood, legendary coach, John Wooden. He celebrates his 99th birthday today.

I checked out the Spurs game pre view for tonight on SB nation. They have head to head match-ups comparison for each position. At PG they claim Hill is a better PG than Baron , citing he is a selfish chucker rather than a distributor. Manu gets the nod over EG, Richard Jefferson is better than AL Thornton, Duncan better than Camby and Mcdiess is better than Kaman.

And of course Blair is better than Griffin. I can understand to an extent that each set of fans love their respective teams but Damn! They are ripping Griffin over there .
You are either doing or not doing .

Kaman is too funny!

I don't care what other people say about the team. Tonight will be a good test for the guys. I hope Al steps up and fights for his starting spot.

I'd like to see what DJ can do vs Duncan. I think his length can affect Duncan.

I wish Tony was playing so we can see if baron is really up for the challenge.

I know we have this game on the radio, I'm not sure that it's being televised. I got spoiled by seeing us play in our last game and I would love to watch us tonight. I would like to see Al play better tonight and I'm hoping for a win. If we don't win it doesn't matter as much to me in the pre season.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

He will likely get a ton of minutes with the start. Kaman and Camby will both sit this one out.

Not exactly sure, but some guys are getting rests. These last few games will likely be used to see where some of lesser played guys are. Gordon is coming off of the bench, and I'm assuming that is because he will be primarily playing point tonight.

4 points and 4 boards for Blake in the first 6 minutes. Blair has entered the game for the Spurs.

Ricky has 5 on 2-4 shooting. Baron has 4 assists on 7 of our baskets. Clippers up 17-14 in just over halfway through.

DJ is playing well against Duncan with 7 points and 3 boards, but he just picked up his 2nd foul and will head to the bench. Craig Smith ready to enter the game.

Blair scores and will head to the line to shoot 1. Blocking foul called on Griffin, he'll head to the bench with 10 points & 4 rebounds.
