Per KTAR: Suns looking for big man(roster cut from otherteam

Post#1 » by sunsfever68 » Thu Oct 15, 2009 7:54 pm

According to Gambo and Ash (take it with a grain of salt...personally I can't stand Gambo, he talks about his teams as much as our teams) Suns are looking to add a big man from another team's roster cuts most likely.

They said Voskuhl, Collins, and Ely were possible candidates.

I say no to Jake, maybe to Collins but yes to Ely.

Who out there who might get cut would you like to see considering the circumstances?

I think Melivin Ely would be a solid pickup.

Well, the Gentry quote on AzCentral specifically said that he doesn't want to sign a big just because they need a big man.

He said the big MUST be able to fit into the style of play and must be somebody who can be able to be worked in the rotation because they don't wanna sign somebody who is going to be useless just because he is big.

Based on that, Voskhul, Collins, and maybe even Ely would be useless --> although I too would like to see Melvin Ely.

Voskhul played run and gun with the suns and can still do it..If front office listens to Gentry they will get Voskhul, even though I would go with Ely

we already have our honorary badass white guy off the bench...that's sweet lou. Melvin Ely is a 6'11 big man who has a back to the basket game and kinda doesn't fit in with his necessarily but he can also hit a mid range jumper a little bit and I think he can rebound well.

Guys Jake's not really that good he was fun to have in 2005 when he didn't have to play but Ely is definitely better. Jarron Collins doesn't fit at all really. Hes big and slow.

Didnt say Jake was good..just said if they want a guy who fits in the offense skim of run run run..then they will go with Jake.

Chances are I don't think there's anything the Suns could offer that would make it a 1-1 type trade, they could offer Lopez but I doubt they would except (Ironic because Jordan was the center I hoped they would draft and they could have drafted him...) but I'm thinking something along the lines of

Barbosa and Taylor Griffin for Deandre Jordan, Rasul Butler and Anthony Roberson

The trade works in the trade checker by the way. I know alot of people don't want to see Barbosa go but he's one of the Suns most tradeable assets and this gets them a good package of a starting center with alot of potential, a guy that can replace Barbosa's scoring in Butler and to make contracts work throw in Roberson. This also let's the Griffin brothers reunite. Works out for both teams I think.
