Phil being Phil

Post#1 » by Red2 » Thu Oct 15, 2009 6:24 pm

Did anyone catch Phil's comment that the Lakers were not trying to win 72 games? Clearly that was a dig at the comments by Rasheed about how the Celtics could challenge the Bulls record. Why else would he make an asinine comment like that? No matter what happens this year, one thing is certain" Phil Jackson will still be a jerk and Doc Rivers will still be a classy coach.

I'm pretty sure Phil is going to try to win 82 games, just like every other non-tanking team

I think it's hilarious. What's the big deal? At least he isn't saying "Yea I think we are the best team that has ever played and are going to get the best record in NBA History" Like a certain Ex-Piston

Some idiot reporter probably asked him if he was going for the Bulls record, and he answered the same thing Doc would, which is it isn't important. Championships matter, regular season records don't. Don't read anything into what he said.

Who cares what Rasheed said? Should we be offended if someone on a crappy team, maybe the Twolves or whatever, says "yeah, I think we get that trophy this year" ? Of course it is a big time stretch but why not set your goals high?

Phil's a jackass. But I do like him as a coach.

I'm with Dave here, this is much ado about nothing. I don't think it was a dig at Sheed as the OP suggested. The focus is weathering the trials and tribulations of the regular season and getting to the playoffs as one unit. I'm sure it's the same for the Celtics too.

That's the goal here. Some of you gotta stop taking Phil so serious at his every word. The man is a Jedi master.

If by Jedi Master you mean guy who will follow elite talent to championships, then yes I agree.

Not to start an argument but a Coach winning titles does not equal a Coach/GM winning titles and it never has.

ps.....the Real Master "Retired" when he was 49
could have won a lot more but had no ghost to chase.

But I strayed.....that's just Phil.....

I freakin' can't stand Phil Jackson. His post-Shaq teams didn't do squat until he was gift wrapped Gasol and even then, we smoked them in the Finals.

I can't wait to pound on the Lakers this year just shut that smug prick up.

There it is. Also Phil is a Jedi Master that never wants you to what exactly he is thinking. Even if my team wanted to go for the record I would keep it on hush.

And what did your team do before you got KG & Ray Allen?????? 21 years of futility. The feeling is mutual about pounding you guys this year. I hope both teams make it to the Finals, HEALTHY! I really want to see what's up!
