he talks a bit more about not wanting to leave PHX just to chase a title somewhere else - some good quotes.
He really is a genuinely good guy
Maryvale will love the comment from D'antoni early on, as evidence that he doesn't care about defense. Enjoy, Mary.

From what I get, the article is basically saying Nash took the money over a ring. How's that a good thing?

Because most players who say they do not care about money and want to win a ring end up leaving a legacy behind.
Gary Payton and Karl Malone joining Lakers? I mean, Stockton just didn't leave the Jazz because he wants a ring. And honestly, I will look at a player like Stockton as class and loyalty. Malone should have just finished his career with the Jazz.
It's so rare to find players in any sport stay with their team for any long periods of time. It would be different if Nash left the Suns for money with a team that was not contending.
I hope Nash retires a Sun.

I took it as Nash sticking around because he wanted to finish the job instead of becoming a ring-chaser like Payton.

+1,000,000,000.
I don't even know what I'd do if i saw nash in, say, a celtics, lakers, or spurs (lol, yeah RIGHT!) jersey after all these years. until Shaq went there, i would have been cool if he had gone to the Cavs... MAYBE. only if he won a ring there, and then came straight back.

Re: CBS Nash Invu -
Geez MVF, Nash didn't take money over a ring. He felt he's still good enough to carry a team and could still win (if we put together a championship team) under his own terms. Ring chasers like GP and Malone couldn't carry a team anymore and needed another team to carry them.
But Nash was also right when he said that, even if he went to a contender it's far from a guaranteed championship, so why not stay where he's happy and chase a ring with HIS team. Besides, considering the type of player he is and how relatively unaffected he is by age, he'll have one or two seasons after his contract is up to go chase a ring. Maybe with the Blazers, who knows.

Re: CBS Nash Invu -
The thought that Nash may never win that elusive title crosses his mind occasionally.
"Maybe momentarily," he said. "But not every team wins a championship. Only one does, so where should I have gone? Where would you go? You could pick the odds-on favorite to win it and they don't jell, they have a bad night, they have an injury and now you're saying, 'Man, I gave up a team that I love, and a community that I love for what?'

God, I love this guy.
