Very top-heavy group this year. As many as 6 (or 7, if Boone declares) top 50 draftees but very little behind them. As a consequence many of the top guys (Clady, Oher, Hills, Baker maybe) will go higher than they should.

Good question.
It irons out the guesswork, helps scouts get an understanding of what the player has been expected to do and how he's been coached. Certain schools do get players extra credit at certain positions, and BC and their OL is indeed one of them. Auburn linemen typically get that bump too.
Off the top of my head some other cases:
DBs from Ohio State
WRs from LSU
RBs from Auburn
there's probably several others too. I'm busy celebrating Kenny Lofton's HR with my 4th shot of Captain Morgan of the night, so my mind isn't real clear...

What made you finally go with Long over Baker?
I think my top 5 goes like this:
1. Long
2. Clady
3. Cherilus
4. Baker
5. Oher
My 2-4 could probably switch around on a weekly basis as of now though.
Curious if anyone here has seen Pittsburgh play a few times what they're thought of McGlynn and Otah are?

Baker is more talented but Long plays better more often, if that makes sense.
I like Otah's potential a lot, but he's got a ways to go. Haven't honestly paid much attention to McGlynn, though I do have to watch their last game tape this week.

Baker reminds me of Jordan Gross which if you project it out he will be a top 10 pick. Again part of the reaction to guys whose teams struggle(Brohm, Mcfadden, Sam Baker) is to downgrade them a bit. I'll be shocked if he isnt the 2nd OT taken, assuming Boone out of OSU stays in school.
