Damn, just because I played GB defense on my FF team doesn't mean I want to score points with them.
Tom Gores' Securus faced a class action lawsuit in 2024. The company engaged in a "quid pro quo kickback scheme" with county jails in Michigan which banned in-person visits in order to maximize revenue from voice and video calls.

Drew has been interesting so far. The pick wasnt his fault. He has made some nice throws. At the same time, he has taken a couple sacks and made some bad throws. Hes prolly better than CPep, but when the pocket is collapsing i would like to see him scramble

Well I don't know how the coaches are instructing him, because early in the preseason he was scrambling for running opportunities early and often and that was when he was at his best. I had speculated that it seemed to me like they were trying to coach him out of that mentality and try to make him stick in the pocket more, which I did not like. I'm not counting to hold anything against him in this game, as he did do a bunch of things well, and considering that this is not the situation I would have wanted to see him playing and not the terms I wanted to see him playing, it is comparing apples to oranges on what the dynamics should have been for him to get his feet wet this year. If the Lions can start him in the next game, that would be a more fair way to evaluate him and take a legitimate look at what he can do.
Also, Pettigrew needs to work on his hands, he dropped a couple balls today. You can't take a TE in the first round that high unless you are darn sure he is a difference maker and a VERY solid player, I'm just a little disappointed so far, hopefully he'll come around.
And I was not a fan of the fake punt play. I love going for it on 4th down in that spot, and I don't mind a gimmicky play, but that was a terrible play design and should be ripped from the playbook and burned. I refuse to believe that the play design/personnel does anything other than give us a much lower percentage of converting than a normal play or any typical trick play format.
Definitely hoping for some last minute fire sale trading and purging of as many vets as we can, but our depleted cap room might make it tricky to make too many transactions.

Bad juju all around. At least we have a bye week to work some things out and hopefully make some roster changes.

The fake punt was horrific. In general i thought the play calling was very suspect. yuck. Its very clear we need Stafford in there, though Stanton was decent. Pettigrew does need to work on his catching, agreed, but he was more of a blocker coming out of college. Im betting he gets much better pretty soon.
The bye is very needed. Good lord i hope Stafford's knee is ok

Sources are saying that he's going to see an orthopedic surgeon, Dr. James Andrews, Mayhew calls it all "gossip".
I hope he's okay. I want a good pick, but I don't want him injured. I'd rather have him healthy and learning than trying to rehab his rookie season. But we'll see what happens. I'd like him back for St. Louis (which I think we could win) but I don't want to rush him back and hurt him worse.
Play call was suspect, but it's been suspect all season so far.
Pettigrew is more of a blocker than a receiver, but he will be a target and needs to learn to catch those balls. He's a big body and actually has good hands, the problem is he doesn't seem to have his timing down. You can tell when he's going to catch the pass and when he'll drop it by how long it takes him to get his hands up.
I think another area of concern is Kevin Smith. Every team knows we're going to him on the right side for every run. Throw two RBs in the backfield with Stafford and either do a trick play or use them as extra blockers while getting time for a play to develop downfield from time to time. There's no deception to our offense, besides a bad fake punt play that has killed us already.
The sad part is, our offense (with Stafford) has been decent. Nothing special, but decent. It's our defense that is killing us. Our linebackers have actually been really good. Larry Foote looks like he's playing for an extention and Julian Peterson has actually improved each week. Not too mention that DeAndre Levy just continues to impress. And our safeties have been really solid. But our tackles and CBs just don't do their part. I really hope that Mayhew has noticed and is actively seeking upgrades through trades and free agency.
