OT: Cavs Interested in Jackson

Post#1 » by King Of The 4th » Sun Oct 18, 2009 6:21 pm

According to sources, the Cavaliers do have an interest in Stephen Jackson and have had some internal discussions about trading for him.

The Warriors are seeking a big man in return, which is something the Cavaliers don't have a surplus they are willing to part with at this time.

Cleveland is expected to continue to monitor the situation.

The remaining seasons on Jackson's contract are reportedly not a huge concern for the franchise.

I know this is old news, but from the sound of this article, this trade still has a slim chance of happening. How much tougher do you see the Cavs being if this trade really does go through?

This is partially protection if Delonte continues to have personal problems.

I don't really think it matters. The Cavs still can defend pick and roll.

This is a situation where you have to go after Jackson not because he'll fit well on the C's, but because you bar him from going to a rival.

Jackson would improve the Cavs a lot. I would play him and James at 3/4 sometimes to push the ball especially if they have to trade Z to make this deal go through. A second quarter lineup of Varejao, James, Moon, Jackson and West looks good with Shaq, Parker and MoW getting a rest.

They are talking about shipping Big Z. For your team, and my team's sake, I hope this doesn't happen. Or if it does, I hope it costs the Cavaliers an arm and a leg ;)

How are you going to do that?

Aside from Allen, Perkins, and Rondo, there really isn't much to offer. Warriors aren't going to take back garbage for Jackson.

they reportedly want a big man. why, i don't know, since nellie hates big men. in any case we don't have any bigs to offer.

the only thing we can offer is TA+Scal (expirings) plus something of value, such as bill walker (who might be a PF under nellie lol) and maybe a pick. but there isn't a whole lot of value there.

the cavs would be seriously scary with SJax.

I want to go ahead and retract this statement. As long as Shaq is on this Cavs team, as constructed, they will not prevent us from winning the championship. I like the C's chances if a Z for SJax swap occurs. Not only will that hurt their teams chemistry, seeing that Z has been a part of the Cavs organization for so long now and was a great piece for a team with LeBron James on it, there is also going to be too many players not seeing the minutes they want at the swing positions.

The Ws just want him gone.

SCal, TA and Giddens should get it done.

I think Denver could really use him on defense with losing Dahntay Jones.

He would've made sense for Boston if Ainge hadn't already signed Daniels. I still say, go after Gay if possible. He won't be a longterm commitment if he doesn't work out for you this season.

San Antonio, New Orleans and the LA Clippers have not had any conversations of substance with Golden State concerning Jackson. Cleveland definitely has interest, but is unwilling to give up Zydrunas Ilgausksas and is taking a "wait and see'' approach. Denver had interest but doesn't have the goods to get anything done.

While there's a possibility that something could happen soon, the Warriors have been told by several teams that the market for Jackson could improve after Dec. 15, when players who signed as free agents this past summer are able to be traded. Golden State's thinking is that the market could be even better near the Feb. 18 trade deadline.

I really wish we could get him. I've wanted him here for a while. If he goes to Cleveland, then that will improve their team tremendously.

It would probably help the Cavs if they traded Z away seeing how Mike Brown loves playing both Z and Shaq together and it gets terrible results for them. I really hope this doesnt happen.

Could you imagine having to go through Rashard Lewis, Stephen Jackson/LeBron James, Kobe Bryant/Ron Artest or a combo of those throughout the playoffs?
