Pavlovic

I doubt anyone agrees with me but I'd really like to see Sasha Pavlovic come to San Antonio. He had his breakout year in 2007 but injured his ankle over and over and over again within the next 2 years. I searched and I found this:

January 23, 2008 - Pavlovic injures left ankle against Washington Wizards. He would not play again until March, 12th.

April 15, 2008 - Pavlovic injures left ankle against Philadelphia 76ers. He missed a few weeks, leading into the playoffs and then proceeded to register a simply awful series against the Celtics.

October 8, 2008 - Pavlovic injures right ankle during preseason practice. Misses approximately two weeks of preseason play.

February 9, 2009 - The Cavaliers will be without Sasha Pavlovic for 4-6 weeks after the guard suffered a high ankle sprain in Sunday’s home loss to the Los Angeles Lakers.

And in game 1 of 2009 playoffs againts Atlanta, he suffered a broken nose but atleast it's not his ankle again.

Anyways, I remember him during the Spurs-Cavs finals and felt Pavlovic is looking like a nice player (thou we were focused on Lebron) and while he's not going to be a superstar or anything, he'd be a nice bench player. When healthy, he's got a good shot, good handle, good defense, great size 6'7'' 235 lbs, and is only 25 years old. Even Lebron is actually high on Pavlovic. I remember he said something about Sasha in 2008 after he had a great 2007 season but couldn't find an article. However, I did find this quote and this is from last year after Cleveland's game 1 againts Orlando from Lebron James:
"I think Sasha can be huge for us," James said. "Mentally, if Sasha's in tune, he could be really good for us with his 6-7 or 6-8, 240-pound frame, he could really help us on the defensive end, and he's also an offensive threat. You just cannot leave him open on the offensive end because he can make shots. Mentally, if Sasha's in tune, which I think he can be, and if he's called upon, I think he can be really good for us. We need that type of active body on the defensive end who can take a little bit of the load of myself and Delonte. . . . We could use him out there."

Personally, if we thought Finley should've been finished last year, maybe he should just stop getting minutes this year. And perhaps i'm just not fond of Roger Mason at all, but I feel Sasha could beat both Finley and Mason out as the primary backup to Manu or Jefferson if he's in tune like James hope and feel he can.

I personally think our roster is set, but I'd be open to them giving Pav a chance.

I think he'll go to a team that can offer him more minutes/fatter contract though. And it wouldn't surprise me to see him go over to Europe and play.

That's what I thought too.. Seems like the Spurs are set for training camp and isn't looking to bring anyone in. The Spurs have a history of bringing in someone who played well againts them.

To me, Sasha's a player that we could really use. He'll come cheap. Outside of Manu and Jefferson, he's perhaps our next best athlete. He's got the best size of all our perimeter guys at 6'7'' 235 or in Bron's word 6'8'' 240 lbs. He's only 25 years old. He played well againts us in 2007 NBA Finals. He's plays good defense and active. He can make the 3 point shot and he's not a specialist type like Roger Mason. The guy can slash and got good handles.

Never really like Pav much. I always thought he was way too soft. Spurs don't need soft players. Drives me crazy as it is seeing Fin play D.
