Something's Gotta Change...

Here is Bonnell's column regarding the Bobcat's this preaseason:

http://blogs.charlotte.com/inside_the_nba/2009/10/something-must-change-for-bobcats-quickly.html

For those who feel these performances are nothing to worry about, I would suggest reconsidering your analysis. Bonnell is traveling with the team, seeing practice, and is closer to the situation than any of us. It's unusual for him to sound off this soon regarding the team, but clearly he is seeing major warning flags. Those are primarily our point guards who cannot defend against dribble penetration and the play of our bigs. Well, that's most of the team folks. He didn't even touch on how pathetic Bell has been. Henderson is hardly ready to get major minutes, much less start. UPS is our key bright spot.

Many will discount this by saying "most of the preseason games have been close!". Also Chandler hasn't played a minute and Diaw is just getting back into playing. All true, but when the games count, I just don't see us being very good out of the chute. I was really hoping we could turn the corner. I still have hope, but this is looking like another long winter relative to Bobcats BB.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

No, it's not unusal for Bonnell to go off this early at all.

And I'm pretty sure he has a boner for UPS. Has done for the last 4 weeks.

I think he's his new pet project.

Spectre, I can't view that via our firewall but I suspect/hope it's a clip from the "Lost In Space" series??

Yeah, let's judge Felton's defense based on one preseason game, instead of what he did over an entire season.
Humble yourself.

Heh nah...the famous FedEx "We're all doomed" commercial! I love that clip!

Seriously...we probably will start out just a little slower because of the injuries to both Boris and Tyson...but I doubt seriously if it's anything like the hole we dug ourselves into last season (and we still almost got into the playoffs).

I haven't got to see 2 of the last 3 games so it's very hard to comment. Vs. NOLA Felton played stifling D on Chris Paul and tho it was Fish/Farmar the LAL guards didn't do any penetration damage. Raja is struggling, no doubt about it...and our new depth behind him hasn't impressed me at all.

Until we get all the pieces working together though it's hard for me to get too worried.

It wasn't Felton's defense or lack thereof. If anything vs. Atlanta & Utah it appeared our wings allowed the penetration. Maybe Teague some in the 3rd...but that wasn't what put us in the 20 point hole in the 2nd quarter. Vs. Utah wasn't AK the culprit? Granted Felton getting into early foul trouble hurt him, but he went out pretty early in the game didn't he?

Hard to say though without seeing the games.

I'm only worried if Chandler is hurt worse than they are letting on. If we get 48 minutes of Diop/Nazy in the middle we will suck very hard this year.
