OT: Wizard fans do you find my posts offensive?

Post#1 » by Chocolate City Jordanaire » Wed Oct 21, 2009 8:11 pm

In the preseason thread on page 36, DCZards called me out. Here's what he said:

DCZards wrote:
CCJ, you really need to stop the constant harkening back to those things you were "right" about everytime another poster challenges your opinion. It's getting a little old.

That got me thinking on a lot of levels, but most of all it made me see an opportunity to mend fences and retain what I think is really important: An open forum of mutually respectful discourse.

Regardless of how I've said what I've said, I'm sorry if I've offended anyone.

I'm not right all the time. I've made my share of misjudgements and mistakes. :(

Here's a great link to a thread I love: "things you've gotten wrong".

I've got no problem being wrong, admitting it, or apologizing.

At the same time, I'm going to post based on my feelings, and will try not to offend.

DCZards--You might want to ignore me. I'll do my part to keep the board from getting too petty.

Truth is I have NO CLUE with this Wizards team. Lot of strong feelings, but time will tell.

offensive? hardly

I know where you were on most of these things, and I agreed with you about
many of them. At worst I'd say the repetition can be tiresome. But you're hardly
the only person guilty of being repetitive. I resemble that remark as well.

Offensive is probably the wrong word, but your constant whining about Millsap, Blair and every other pick you ever recommended is extremely grating.

I respect the hell out of you otherwise but lately it seems like you've had a bit of an over the top drama queen act going. Just my opinion and I'm fully aware that I don't contribute nearly as much to the board as you.

I second this, and am publicly in favor of a banning this character known as CCJ.

Seriously....why for this thread CCJ?

I stopped reading there. You have to understand - when people are consistently wrong, they tend to lash out in frustration. Just imagine how you would feel if you were wrong as often as DCZards.

It's not about you, dude. Trust me.

(Disclaimer: The above post is for entertainment purposes only. Other than supporting Eddie Jordan, I have no specific examples of DCZards being wrong about anything. Void where prohibited.)

Not offensive: just repetitive. Keep posting. Most people agree with you or at least that the Wizards should have taken someone. However, finances had to do a lot more with decision than anything. The Wizards received $2.5 million pick, not to mention the salary plus luxury tax that they would have to pay for Blair.

So in recap
1. The Wizards got $2.5 million for the pick
2. The Wizards would have had to pay Blair somewhere between $800k -900k
3. The Wizards would have to pay an additional dollar for all the money they played for Blair

You are right in saying that drafting Blair vs signing Oberto would have equaled the same cost. At the end of the day, EG felt that the Wizards needed a veteran big man and not another young guy.

San Antonio's wallets ended up being bigger than Wizards as they were able to get two veteran options (McDyess and Ratliff) and draft Blair with their 2nd round pick. If the Spurs had a choice, they may rather have veteran options than draft someone like Blair.

Will the Wizards regret it? Time will tell. Although if you are right, bringing it up over and over will annoy Wizard fans. It would be like bringing up the Chris Webber trade over and over again. I could have told you when the trade was complete that it was a bad trade. Brining it up constantly can get on the nerves on Wizard fans who agree with you but have already moved on.

At the end of the day, CCJ, I can't blame you for bringing up Blair because there really isn't much to talk about in the offseason.

CCJ, you know we love you. You're the unofficial father of the Wiz-Board.

If I could give you one piece of advice (which I don't normally do so beware...), it would be to not take things so seriously. If someone gives you a critique on anything, don't take it so personally. It's not that big a' deal.

Are there certain things you, me and everyone else does that might irk another poster for a small amount of time? Sure, so is life. If what they say has any basis in reality, then maybe consider toning it down. If it doesn't, don't let it get to you. Either way, the wrong thing to do is take it as a complete and utter attack on your character.

And don't ever stop posting. The last thing this board needs is for a long-time contributor like yourself to leave.

Hell no I don't find you offensive. I agree with you 99% of the time. This board has calmed down alot. We used to fight alot more. And back then it was more justified, especially when defending a controversial suggestion, to point out the times you've been right that went against conventional thinking. Here's a for instance. I fought many on this board who said Euros are soft etc when I started my campaign to get Oberto BACK WHEN HE WAS STILL IN EUROPE (back when he was still young and much more effective). Now, if we still had those kind of fights, I would have to reach into my memory and play those type of cards to remind and justify my stance.

But, we don't fight like that anymore. The little tiffs now are nothing to break a sweat over. Relax. And go ahead and remind people your stances in the past as far as I'm concerned. I like knowing we have a board worth listening to whose suggestions, even those seemingly wacky at the time, tend to pan out more often than not.

I don't tire of you reminding the areas our GM screwed up. He has and it ought to be noted. Hopefully, so someone gets in his ear and guides him toward some better choices in the future. That's why people write here -- the hope that someone will take note and change the team we love for the better.

Hey CCJ, why'd you have to go there. I didn't use the word "offensive" to describe your posts and never would. In fact, I find them entertaining most of the time...and I truly, truly admire your passion as well as your willingness to admit when you've gone over the top. I respect you, bro!

All of us have our moments...both good and bad. My post that led to this crazy discussion was simply an attempt to be honest and candid with you, man. But it's just my opinion.

Please don't take anything I say (or what anybody else on this board says for that matter) personally. I certainly don't let the things people say about me or my opinions get under my skin.

Peace & Love
