I still don't see how starting CDR at the 3 would work... There just isn't enough rebounding and playmaking between Lee and CDR. Starting CDR also severely depletes the bench of any legitimate scorers.

I don't see why you and some other posters are concerned about CDR's distributing ability; because this whole preseason he has bean distributing very well, and Lee is not far behind. My concern isn't ball movement, but scoring off the bench. Right now our legit scorers off the bench are Dooling and Hayes. Hayes will definitely have to step up as a key role player in order for us to make any noise for a playoff spot. Another issue I have with CDR is starting is his weight. The dude is really skinny, and with the trio of Harris, Lee, and CDR, I just don't see how we will stop most teams from getting into the paint willingly.

Overall though, I don't see why not. CDR has proven himself to be worthy, we really have nothing to lose, our expectations our low, so lets make it happen.

Verdict: Start CDR, let Hayes back him up, and hope between Hayes and Dooling we can get some legit points off the bench.

CDR is fine at playmaking...i don't know what you're worried about there

but with the bench scoring

its not like the ENTIRE second unit is gonna come in and replace the starting lineup, CDR / Harris / Lee / Lopez one if not two of them will be in there with the bench, rarely is the 2nd unit going to play that much together.

His playmaking has been far from fine 1.6 apg compared to 1.8 turnovers per game this preseason, that's not exactly the stuff of legends.

hes a scorer so i don't see it as a problem.

harris is a fine playmaker, c.lee is solid, and you got some solid PG's off the bench and terrence williams

he doesn't need to be a good playmaker.

The team traded away the best playmaker ;rightly so the team wasn't going anywhere with what's his name.
Give CDR the spot forget about bench scoring the team doesn't have *my fault ENOUGH talent.

I agree that CDR isn't much of a playmaker, but it forces the offense to be run through and off of Lopez all the more, which is what we should be aiming for anyway, plus I honestly think we are going to see a new Devin this season, more team orientated even though he will have to shoulder a lot of the scoring load, think of a prime Rod Strickland.

I really dont see the benefit in starting CDR.

The guy is perfect for 6th man ala Ben Gordon, why start him at the 3? Granted Twill isnt up to speed yet, but I would rather have him start under FIRE Frankly. CDR can still get 20+ min. Another worry I have is if you start CDR then we can quickly see lineups of Harris, Lee, CDR, Simmons and Lopez. SMALL BALL ALL NIGHT LONG!!!!

One last thing

I wonder if you're going to hate Yi Jianlian after he plays so well that Lawrence Frank is given a 2 year extension...

You're an extreme optimist or just a funny guy Netsforce. Nothing warrants Frank getting an extension he'd have to work for free.

What type of stats do you see CDR having this season ??

13pts, 4 reb, 2 ast, 1 stl on 46% FG ??

I think he could be the Nets 3rd leading scorer behind Harris & Lopez.

Thoughts ???
