did a fan of a team with Nate Robinson really just call Brook Lopez dumb?

I'll admit I though this guy Gallo I keep hearing about was gonna turn into a good player. After getting my first real long look at him. His shot is inconsistant, is D is subpar, he looks clumsy and mechanical. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt maybe he played a bad game but nothing about him screams star in the making at all.

Toney Douglas plays good D but I can't say much more about him either. He dribbles way to much and he got lucky by hitting a couple of bad shots and Clyde was saying that was his best game of the preseason. Really?

As for Jordan Hill I don't even want to go there, he's having enough trouble as it is without me bashing him. Can't even crack the rotation of possibly the worst frontcourt in the league.

Now back to something more meaningful, the game. Things I noticed.

Lopez - he struggled a bit with the double team (which is to be expected). I liked the shot blocking (5) and th rebounding (11) more touches out of the double team as the season goes on and he'll be fine

CDR - he'll be the starting 3 no question. He has a killer scoring mentality (outside shot is inconsistent) but overall he's tough to defend. He'll be the perfect 6th man when we fill out our team better next season. What a find by Thorn!

Yi - played pretty good D (I was impressed). I like the fact that he's posting/driving more but he loses control when he gets there and he struggled with his finishing. With that said now that he's doing those things the next step is to finish consistantly. I expect major improvements by the end of the year.

Overall I liked the individual improvements of the guys mentioned above. Should be a fun year now lets get this season going already.

KnicksGod wrote:Just pre-season but Brook Lopez looked pretty bad in these two games v. Knicks. 5-18 last night which is terrible for someone shooting within 5 feet of the rim. The guy is a good player who really doesn't have the tools or mobility to be a great center in this league. The Nets' best hope of having a great nucleus is to get a great player in the Draft. They seem certain to be a lottery team (itself an indicator that their core talent is underwhelming). But if they can pull a top 3-5 pick, they'll be in good shape. It's not their current players, however, that make the Nets a great young club. They are just not that by any stretch.

I'm willing to respect the opinions of others, but WTF...

Couple the above comment with Knicks fans claiming their "core" (which consists of 2 small forwards, an under-sized shooting guard, and a defenseless power forward) better complements a guy like Lebron James then I think it goes without saying that the Knicks have the most delusional fanbase in the NBA.

When I get the time I'm going to write an article that puts to rest these illogical fallacies.

^^ I was over there talkin smack to KnikcsGod and few others. It's not gonna work he's got something else to say about everything. He may the craziest poster I've ever seen. I love though we're not a playoff team yes but neither are they so whats his arguement. We just have a shot at a top 5 pick and they don't. All there players play the same position as LBJ how does that compliment him. I feel you NetsForce, but you can't win with him I've tried.

I'll break it down for you Harris is a shoot first point with passing and Douglas is the second coming of Isiah. Lopez is slow footed and mechanical but Gallo is a superstar. Lee is nothing more role player and CDR can't shoot but Hill has all the tools to become a great two way center in their system. (Hill couldn't even pass the ball without traveling against us)

I think that pretty much sums it up.

I don't know how they can lie to themselves like they do over there.

Yi's defense and rebounding looks SOOO much better this year. He isn't getting lost on rotations. He is sticking with his man to the rim instead of getting blown by. He is taking contact better defensively, absorbing it instead of getting knocked away from a shot.

He's also showing real flashes. I still think he needs more confidence but at this point everyone should be willing to give him more time. We aren't just going to need a PF in the future we are going to need high quality big men off the bench too, so while he may not be ideally consistent as a starter, Yi will be able to be a big part of the team for some time to come.... or a valuable trade chip next offseason.

man guys im actually overly-impressed with CDR

everytime we criticize something or anyone does it seems like he works to improve on it, you could REALLY tell he was trying alot harder on defense

--

@ netsforce, totally agree we need some more 3 pt threats, our star devin harris isn't really a great shooter, CDR , twill....rafer(smh) can't really shoot consistently

the only players that shoot solid 3's are Lee, Hayes, and dooling can get hot... we need maybe another shooter off the bench in situational moments that can help spread the floor when lopez gets doubled

also i was a little disappointed that lopez kept forcing up double teamed shots...wasn't happy about that.

I brought this up in another thread as well but believe it deserves repeating... Though Yi looks like he's on pace to take a few steps forward this season he definitely needs another year to fully grow into his game.

He's gotten stronger, but still isn't strong enough IMO, where he seems to have made the most improvements this past offseason was in his mental approach to the game.

Yi is much more focused this time around.

^^ exactly he's actually now posting up and driving hard but most of them were rolling off the rim. Defensively didn't look lost rebounding much better just needs to perfect his finishing and then I would love to keep him around as the first big off the bench (as long as we get our PF in the draft).

CDR looks like a real player. Lots of heart. Knicks beat the Nets again, not surprising. Good luck this season and enjoy Newark next year.
