Knox offenisve ROY?

In my attempts to stay positive, I'm just going to focus on Johnny Knox until our next victory...sounds like a man crush better reserved for Chewie.

Anyways. right now ESPN's Jeremy Green has him ranked as the top rated offensive rookie:

For some reason I'm really pulling for Knox to win NFC ROY. One reason is that I'm sure is that it will silence critics who claim Angelo can't draft offensive talent - Olsen, Forte & Knox in consecutive years would be pretty solid. Also, I think I'm just rooting for the small school kid to kick the door in on the major conference monopoly on the draft.

At the end of the day, who do you guys see as his biggest threat? I see Percy Harvin in part because he's got the talent but also because the Brett Favrehehe demon shadow will help him garner votes. Thoughts?

I'll buy Knox as the favorite at this point. Harvin came with the hype but looks like the owies are going to put a dent in his numbers. Speaking of rookie WRs....I think Kenny Britt, Hakeem Nicks, and Massaquoi are all going to be good pros and I recall us kicking their names around a ton back when we actually had some picks in the '09 draft. (Ahhh...Kenny Britt ) Heyward-Bey doesn't have a chance on the Raiders but I really soured on him anyway when it seemed like he was nothing more than a combine warrior.

Good job by Angelo still getting value in Knox after trading away the early picks. I wouldn't exactly use Forte and Olsen to pump up Angelo's resume, though, emp. I was expecting more at this point from both those guys this year.

If Cutler establishes the rapport with Knox that he's capable of doing with WR's, he'll definitely have a good chance.

Harvin will definitely provide some competition. Knowshon Moreno should be in the conversation (he's been up and down, but Denver's only going to run the ball more as it gets colder), and I think even Mark Sanchez has a shot. If the Jets don't completely crumble, and can make a playoff run, he'll get a ton of credit. He's clearly struggling right now though.

I almost was willing to lock Mark Sanchez in until he just wow, what do you even call that type of performance? He threw more picks than Jay and lost in OT. That stings.

Dont forget Bennett. He might not have the upside of Knox, but he is a solid #2 guy and is on pace for 800 yds.

still need a big, physical wr that can go up and get the ball. where if cutler is in trouble he can just throw it up in the area of the reveiver. marshall seemed like a good candidate but denver has done a complete 180.

As an aside, Cliff Levingston can't wait until people start claiming that the reason for the Bears' WR success is that Cutler is so good, which would be the exact opposite criticism from the beginning of the year when people said "who's Cutler going to throw to?!"

Don't they give ROY awards to a player in the NFC and a player in the AFC? So Mark Sanchez's performance means nothing for Knox's chances to win NFC Offensive Rookie of the Year.

No, I'm almost certain there's only one rookie of the year award. I just checked and last year the voting was Matt Ryan(NFC), Chris Johnson(AFC), and Matt Forte(NFC) and Chris Johnson was hella mad that Matt Ryan got it over him.

Yeah I guess so. Oh well. Whatever the case, Knox is probably the frontrunner right now. I think Percy Harvin will eventually end up winning it.

If Moreno goes over 1300 total yards and his team goes 11-5/12-4, its gonna be hard not to give it to him. Knox likely will find the endzone less and won't have the numbers to get it done. But by far the biggest surprise among the rookies.

In FA next year, the Bears can hopefully get either Vincent Jackson or Brandon Marshall and give Cutler a big body and someone who can stretch the field vertically.

There's an offensive rookie of the year and a defensive rookie of the year. No NFC or AFC crap. Last year Ryan was the offensive and Jerod Mayo was defensive.
As for the physical receiver, I think bennett can handle it. Plus we have Olsen and Davis, to athletic TEs, and Olsen is fast enough to play like a big WR. Too bad he isn't aggressive enough.
