If this deal is dead, does Ratner sell? Would Jay-Z sell his shares? Does the team move to Newark or just stay at the Izod Center. It also leaves the door open for the team to move somewhere farther than Brooklyn. The Swamp is The Swamp. We're not getting much attendance as is so a move could still be likely. Despite the marketability of Yi and VC, I still don't see us as a high seeded playoff caliber team (and when we were during the Kidd era, attendance was still low).
I agree...BUT I LOVE IT =)...sorry the Nets can make it Newark...its a basketball city...rthey just need a chance...

You have been craving this since day one. From what I have read...Nets to Newark is a non option even if Brooklyn fell through. Perhaps I have it wrong...or possibly things could change...but it sounds like the Devils are dead set against it. I am not certain but I think they have some sort of clause to be the only team in that building.
Anyone have info on that?
JJ...if Newark is a non option...do you still hope Brooklyn falls through? Swamp for good?
Personally? I cant see why this guy spent all this cash unless it is to get to the team to Brooklyn. Seems to me that is the finacial option that makes the most sense for any investor.

John Brennan of The Record wrote:These are the key points in a tentative deal reached between Prudential Center, Izod Center, the Devils and the Nets via negotiations with Governor Corzine’s office, based on a memo by administration economics czar Jerry Zaro obtained by The Record:
* The two arenas would enter into a joint venture called “Jersey Presents LLC,” which would operate cooperatively to book, operate and manage concerts and family shows.
* Izod Center would be home to most of those events.
* Prudential Center would become the “sports venue,” with the Devils, Seton Hall, indoor soccer, lacrosse, etc.
* The Nets would “consider” an agreement to move to Prudential Center, beginning next season and continuing until their move to Brooklyn.
* The Devils would agree to pay more than $2 million in back rent to Newark — money that has been withheld pending a settlement of alleged penalties the city owes to the Devils.

I've said this all along...I would always embrace the move to Brooklyn...though my heart will always be in Jersey for the Nets to remain in the state, I know the real future is in Brooklyn...the only thing that ever tainted Brooklyn for me was Ratner...Even when I posted the above, I think then and still do now that Ratner toyed with a lot of fans and players...he is not a true basketball owner...and as much as I wanted to see Brooklyn succeed, I guess you can say I wouldnt of mind seeing Ratner fail...
As much as Ratner can be given credit for initiating Brooklyn, Mikhail Prokhorov will be the one who actually gets it there...Ratner's priorities in regards to Nets basketball has always been suspect, if the connection with Mikhail was never made, I truly believe the Nets were going to be using empty promises to convince FAs to sign with the Nets...
Now, the Nets ceiling as a franchise is through the roof and I've never been more excited about their future...
Either way, The Rock is great arena for basketball, in a basketball city that will hopefully get a chance to embrace another NBA franchise...The Devils organization would be foolish not to do the same...
(fyi, I did change the title to this thread...)
