Guys he wasn't running behind the Dallas line of the 90s. We're talking about one of the best combinations of power and speed the league has seen this decade.

I'm not expecting much. Anything positive Green gives us will be a pleasant surprise.

Agreed.

The Packers offensive line was well above average, but it wasn't absolutely dominant like the Dallas line of the 90s where they could have put any back out there and they would have averaged 4 yards per carry. (Made it even more lame that they had Smith, who was obviously above average)

Green was a top 5 back for two or three years there, he was an elite NFL talent.

Green was a great back for a 4 year span. The Line was good but he was great too. Great combo of power and speed and elusiveness.

And he was one of the best pass receiving RBs, not just a great screen runner. Over a 5 year span, he finished 1st, 1st, 2nd, 2nd, and 3rd in receptions on our team.

Im sorry but you guys are beyound crazy!

Ahman Green was past his prime and not good years ago when the Packers released him. Green Ran behind the best or 2nd best O-Line in the NFL for many years. Thats like saying right now wow Emmit Smith just came back to the Cowboys and is gonna do something.

Who is arguing that he is going to be good now? I think just about everyone is talking about how good he used to be...

Probably not. Green said he'd probably need a week or two before he'd be ready to play. I'd say the Queens game would be the earliest we see him. That would kind of cool if he returned for the Queens game and broke the record against Brent.

You have to ask yourself 1 simple question, is Green at 32 better than what Wynn is now and the answer is most likely yes, he is the third string back and he adds veteran leadership.....something so many have been screaming for.....i like the vets in Green and Tauscher in the lockeroom if nothing else.

Packers were looking for a big-time back at the deadline? Did anyone else hear this? From NFP, a trusted source. Also, there's some playoff projection stuff in here:

Michael Lombardi wrote:Green Bay Packers: If the Packers can get their offensive line problems fixed — which won’t be easy -- they can separate themselves from this cluster. I’m worried about their lack of pressure on the passer, but once they get early leads on teams, they can scheme pressure. Plus, I’m counting on Aaron Kampman playing at a higher level. The Packers were searching for a big-time back at the trading deadline but failed to find one and settled for Ahman Green, who is just 46 yards away from breaking Jim Taylor’s team rushing record (by the way, I loved watching Jim Taylor run).

Oct. 25 at Cleveland Browns
Nov. 1 vs. Minnesota Vikings
Nov. 8 at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Nov. 15 vs. Dallas Cowboys
Nov. 22 vs. San Francisco 49ers
Nov. 26 (Thurs.) at Detroit Lions
Dec. 7 (Mon.) vs. Baltimore Ravens
Dec. 13 at Chicago Bears
Dec. 20 at Pittsburgh Steelers
Dec. 27 vs. Seattle Seahawks
Jan. 3 at Arizona Cardinals

The Packers play four of the six 3-2 teams in the next 11 games, and each one will have playoff implications. If they lose next week against the Vikings, they’ll be hoping for a wild-card bid, making every one of those games against 3-2 teams more important.

If he had said big-time offensive line help I wouldn't have batted an eye, but I didn't expect to see that. Have I been living under a rock?

I wonder who we were after? Maybe Stewart from Carolina?

The fact that they were at least looking means they know Grant isn't the answer. That's a good sign that TT will look to upgrade RB in the offseason.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Steven Jackson would be a dream. His career is just being wasted in St. Louis.

The corpse of Ahman Green is probably better than Wynn at this point. If he has anything left, it will be a bonus. He was absolutely one of the best players in the NFL during the early 2000's. He hit the hole like a cement truck, and accelerated like a gazelle. I don't know how anyone can look back on his first tenure with us and say Green wasn't outstanding. It will be interesting to see how we intend to use him. I suspect as a pass blocking/receiving 3rd down back, but it's possible he could push Grant with a solid showing.

I would think that's a pretty good guess in that at least some teams were looking at him. Big guy, but still has good speed and athleticism otherwise. And it looks like he's got pretty good vision, too. He's about what I was hoping Clay would become if he were 30 pounds lighter.

Big-time makes me think of someone already on the scene, but playing for someone who sucks. I would think Steven Jackson is a pretty good guess, too.

Could you imagine our offense if we got Steven Jackson and then patched up our offensive line next offseason? Our offense would be > the Saints.

We'd be a real life madden team. Putting up ridiculous numbers and never punting.
