Memphis game - final warm up - UGH

Post#1 » by Bassman » Fri Oct 23, 2009 6:27 pm

Another loss, albeit close. Bad rebounding differential. Boris with 1 BOARD in 33 minutes, and 7 of his 10 shots were 3 pointers. Geez! Chandler still not in shape but contirbuted. DJ was HORRIBLE shooting the ball. This guy is like a yo-yo from game to game.

This is 2 straight DNP's for Ajinca. Looks like the experiment is over folks. When you're missing bigs and he gets no burn LATE IN PRESEASON, he's either on the deep bench, in a discussion for a trade, or is getting no extension.

UPS plays 20 minutes..I think he's gonna get good time this season in the rotation. Henderson got in foul trouble but still contributed.

Not gonna be a good start folks.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Ajinca is injured.

The only thing I'll take away from this game is bad rebounding.

Our shooting was flukly bad, once again. I expect it to be much better once the shooters find their rhythm.

Final preseason thoughts: We played 2 teams we should have beaten and are 1-1. The rest of the games were against top 10 NBA teams and we went 1-5. Bad, but we were missing our starting frontcourt and playing youngsters and wern't in a game flow the entire preseason.

We have a lot of work to do, but I'm confident we'll start the season strong once Diaw and Chandler get into shape and DJ plays 38 minutes a night.

I was unaware of an injury to the bean. The box said coaches decision and did not indicate an injury issue. What is the problem?

*Jinx is injured.

*DJ also got 7 assists with only 2 TOs.

*Boris did take 7 threes...but he hit 3 of them giving him 43% from beyond the arc. FWIW I agree with you though that he should play more inside and help on that rebound differential.

*TC has been sitting for 6 months and has only been on the court for less than a week. Considering that I'm pretty happy with his stat line (4 of 6, 6 boards, 1 steal, 1 block, 2 TOs in 23 minutes).

I thought the rooks looked pretty darn good...they'd only been in a couple of minutes and combined they were 4 of 5 from the field. They ended up 9 of 15 for a combined 21 points.

What you didn't mention...

*Crash had a fantastic line: 4 of 8 for 10 pts, 9 boards, 4 blocks, 4 steals, 2 assists and 2 TOs.

*Felton had a solid game except for the TOs (I also didn't care for him shooting 4 3 ptrs... even if it's wide open fake and drive the ball young man): 6 of 13 for 15 pts, 3 boards, 4 assists and the aforementioned 4 TOs.

*LB played the bench to finish the game vs. their bench.

“This week is a big week,” Brown said. “These games are fine. But the practices are more meaningful. It’s important that we get them in sync.”

I don't think winning the game is the most important thing to him right now.

Thanks Spectre. Mine was admitedly a quick glance look at the box only, which renders a poor amount of information compared to hearing the game or seeing it. Thanks for the details.

What is Jinx injury? Also even if well, I don't see him getting much time on the court unless Diop is a total wad (well....maybe he will ...)

I am encouraged by our rookies. I think GH and UPS have very good upside, and their value to the team will be important this season. Indeed Crash had a typical glue game, doing lots of things to help. I'm not at all down on Chandler...I believe he will be a positive player with good production once healthy.

I did listen to the game while keeping up with the play by play but it was a Griz feed that didn't follow the game throughout.

I read the notes on NBA.com before the game (and they disappear after it starts)...the one in PDF...and I think they said it was the hip. Pretty sure he was dressed but LB probably decided to err on the conservative side.

Personally I'd have given Hendo more burn initially over Stevie as he started out very well and Hulk Jr didn't really. But in that and in other things I think LB has other priorities than just getting a W in preseason. Not that I believe that won't carry over into the regular season (and that sucks)...but with the injuries we've had to deal with that's just how it is.

they said on the radio before the bucks game that jinx had a sore hip. i dont think its anything serious, but not worth risking further injury.

We've been waiting for 3 years and 1 year for Felton and DJ respectively.

Yeah, the 6 for 13 sucked.

Sure Felton's shot has been shaky over the years...but in this instance it wasn't him.

Indeed, everybody needs to just GET REAL about our team and how bad our outside shooting is. It's not that we can't shoot at all, but compared to most NBA teams, we just reside around the bottom of the skill set.

Bell goes down and still no McCants?

Post#12 » by Dexmor » Sat Oct 24, 2009 6:28 pm

I thought it was crazy not to get him right away but losing Bell and not picking him up makes no sense.
There is 0 risk but alot of reward.
If your starting sg goes down and your main problem is scoring how do you not sign for the min a young sg who can create his own shot?

What is wrong with Larry Brown? I feel like shaking him.

Henderson with another good shooting performance in a nice little 12 minute cameo. If he can give us 12-16 quality minutes every night during his rookie season, I'm fine with that.

As far as the game goes, looks like we had one bad quarter where their reserves beat up on ours. Other than that, it looks like our starters out played theirs in the other 3 quarters.
