WTFFF?? Are you serious?? Shogun just exposed Machida and showed he is very beatable.
This judging system sucks.

The next person to fight for the title should be Shogun.

Re: UFC 104 Talk
Shogun abused machida with those leg kicks all fight long. Machida could barely move around by the 5th round. I can't believe that was unanimous.

Can't say I didn't see that 1 coming to be honest. From about the start of the third round on (when Shogun looked completely in control) I had a feeling he'd go the distance, be in control, and still lose.
I personally hate the fact that there's any judging at ALL in fighting.
Makes you wish for the days when there were no time limits or judging in fights. One guy beats the other guy--that simple.

If I were Shogun, I'd get the hell out of the UFC.

I'm so pissed off with this judging bull.
What were they scoring based on??? Aggressive? Power? Damage? Strikes?
All went to Shogun with the exception possibly being the total number landed.
Man, I can't imagine how pissed and disappointed Shogun is, guy gave his heart out there and did what most considered to be impossible, and STILL doesn't get the decision. BS!!

Re: UFC 104 Talk
I never liked Shogun as a fighter (just personal bias), but he earned my respect tonight. He clearly was robbed of that decision, and yet he still acted classy in defeat.
I hate to say it, but I think Machida's been figured out. The mystery is now nothing but a past fad. Rua dominated that fight. He landed countless leg kicks and body kicks, and I think he even came out on top during their few active exchanges. It's the first time Machida was against an opponent seemingly as patient as he was, and I think that frustrated him towards the end. He wanted Shogun to push forward and light up as many exchanges as possible, but he didn't bite.
I wanted Lyoto to win the fight, but not this way. This was just highway robbery. Shogun should be holding that belt.

Re: UFC 104 Talk
Anthony Johnson and Yoshida was pretty entertaining. The kid is HUGE for a welterweight, and I think it's about time he moved back up. I didn't see that much from him tonight, but he looks like he has a lot of potential. A la Bones Jones maybe.
My favorite fight has got to be Cain Velasquez vs. Rothwell though. I agree it was an early stoppage, but it was a completely dominating performance for Cain. He was just taking him down again and again and landing some big shots. Big Ben's tough as they come, but I didn't think he was defending himself well at all. The timing of the stoppage was off, but I didn't see him coming out of the 2nd Round anymore. I don't think I've seen anyone dominate either Kongo or Rothwell the way Cain has. His strong, his striking is improving, and his endurance is tops to say the least. Coming into the fight, I remember many on this board easily picking Rothwell to roll over Cain, I never agreed with that.

Velasquez was as unimpressive as you could be in a dominant decision against Kongo, but I was really impressed last night. I still don't like his chin and lack of KO power, but when you can absolutely manhandle your opponent and hit them hundreds of times in the face you can make up for that. At least against fighters not named Brock Lesnar.
I had hope for Rothwell, but he was humiliated. Mazzagatti picked a dumb time to stop the fight, but Rothwell was lucky (or unlucky) the fight went on that long.
Also the UFC needs to make Anthony Johnson move up to 185. It's a joke to keep letting him fight at 170. Especially when he weighs in at 176.

he has only missed weight once. one time too many, but still. Why is it a joke to let him fight at 170? if he has proven he can make it.

Re: UFC 104 Talk
That's the second time he has come in way over 170 if I remember correctly. And even when he does make weight, I don't like that he's as big as a LHW at fight time. If you're going to keep letting that happen at least put him up against another big WW.

Re: UFC 104 Talk
Rumble says a knee injury was the problem, but the way he is growing, a trip to 185 makes more sense.

Re: UFC 104 Talk
After watching the fight several times over, this is how I see the fight
Round 1: Shogun
Round 2: Machida by a **** hair
Round 3: Machida
Round 4: Shogun
Round 5: Shogun
Thats three rounds that Shogun clearly won to Machida's two, and the second round could have gone either way. So I have no clue how they unanimously scored it 4 to 1 for Machida. I agree with the poster above me, just let these mofos beat the **** out of each other until there is one man left standing. Screw this judging bull.
That being said, apart from the decision, I really liked the fight. I was a strategic back and forth battle and I loved watching the two contrasting styles between two masters of their respective disciplines. This was a true MMA fight and I can't wait for a re-match.
