Kings exercise options on Spencer Hawes, Jason Thompson and Donte Greene
The Sacramento Kings today exercised the fourth-year option on center Spencer Hawes and third–year options on forwards Jason Thompson and Donté Greene, it was announced by Kings’ President of Basketball Operations Geoff Petrie. Hawes, currently in his third NBA season, was selected by Sacramento in the first round (10th overall) of the 2007 NBA Draft as an undergraduate out of Washington. He has averaged 8.2 points (.464 FGs, .324 3FGs, .660 FTs), 5.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 0.90 blocks per game in 148 games over his first two seasons.

Thompson was selected by the Kings as a senior out of Rider (12th overall) in the 2008 NBA Draft. He averaged 11.1 points (.497 FGs, .692 FTs), 7.4 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game in 82 games in 2008-09, becoming just the second rookie in the Sacramento-era to play in all 82 contests.

Originally selected by Memphis in the first round (28th overall) of the 2008 NBA Draft as an undergraduate out of Syracuse, Greene joined the Kings after being acquired in a trade with Houston last summer. He averaged 3.8 points (.326 FGs, .260 3FGs, .853 FTs) and 1.6 rebounds per game as a rookie in 2008-09.

Barkley gets down to brass tacks about his desire for GM position
Charles Barkley has spent his entire basketball existence being brutally honest - about society, the state of the NBA, and the players who populate his beloved game.

His role as a television analyst on TNT has given him a perfect way to vent frustrations, bestow compliments, and even offer apologies for his own transgressions. However, his tenure will be coming to an end soon, if Sir Charles has his choice. He has a serious desire to enter NBA management, and wants - no, thirsts - to be a general manager.

Several Hall of Fame players have gone on to be general managers. Some have been wildly successful, such as Jerry West and Joe Dumars, while others floundered, such as Michael Jordan and Elgin Baylor. There is no way to determine how Barkley would fare unless he receives an opportunity.

If Raja Bell undergoes season-ending wrist surgery, it may open the door for rookie Gerald Henderson or veteran Flip Murray to start at shooting guard for Charlotte. The Bobcats were relying on Bell’s defense and outside shooting.

Could Cap Dip to $50 Million?
Complicating all this, the economic crisis that came down last fall after NBA teams had sold their season tickets, will have greater impact this season.

With last season's $58.7 million cap down to $57.7 million, the league has told teams to prepare for revenues to fall further, projecting the 2010-11 cap as low as $50.4 million.

Need4Sheed.com 2009-2010 Fantasy Basketball
I have set up 4 Fantasy Basketball leagues for team Need4Sheed members (if you’re reading this that means you). I’m giving the information for two today and two more Tuesday afternoon at 4:00 PM. If you haven’t tried your hand at fantasy basketball here is your chance to go up against fellow Pistons fans. The winner of each league wins a Need4Sheed.com T-Shirt! So not only do you get bragging rights, you get custom clothing.

I ask just 2 things of those who participate: There are a limited number of spaces so PLEASE join just one league to be fair to everyone. Please make sure all your contact information is correct in your Yahoo profile (it’s free to join) so I have correct information at the end of the season to send the winners out their prizes.That’s it!

Please Check the availability of the leagues at the top first. Got to the Yahoo Fantasy Home page click Join League type in the appropriate League ID number I posted and password.
Live Draft Monday Oct 26 7:00pm EDT – Rotisserie Scoring (14 Teams)
Need4sheed.com League 1 – League ID# is 315665
password=sheedtastic
Auto pick Draft – Rotisserie Scoring (14 Teams)
Need4sheed.com League 3 – League ID# 315687
password=sheedtastic
If these leagues fill up quickly you still have a chance on Tuesday. Good LUCK!

The part of my game I tried to improve was ...
I tried to improve on all aspects of my game. I consider myself a versatile player, so it's important to focus on improving my overall game. I worked on improving my body strength, quickness & agility, adding new offensive moves to my game, as well as increasing my defensive ability. I wanted to come into training camp in the best shape.

My most difficult workout would probably be doing the sand pits in Los Angeles with my trainer Robbie Davis, crazy early mornings, crack of dawn.

Right after a workout I would actually hit up Subways, and get a BMT foot long wheat bread sandwich, honey mustard, no veggies though.

My favorite (or least favorite) news story of the summer was ...
The infamous LeBron James getting dunked on story. All the hype around this missing tape made it crazy, but it then became my least favorite story when I saw the actual dunk.

My favorite place I visited was ...
As usual, the Dominican Republic. I also spent some time in Puerto Rico, during the FIBA Americas Tournament. I like PR as well, but nothing compares to DR. I LOVE IT! I especially love the fact that this past summer, I went out to Dominican Republic in an effort to continue my community efforts with the "Tenis Para Ninos" shoe donation program. Our goal was to donate 20,000 pairs of Crocs shoes, and we managed to do so. Thanks to the help of some of our partners like Crocs & Feed The Children. It was an incredible experience to witness the smiles on these kids' faces.

The biggest NBA transaction (trade or FA signing) of the summer was ...
Ron Artest going to the Los Angeles Lakers ... are you kidding me? I like Ron-Ron's game. The champions just got better.

Besides my new teammate(s), the one rookie I am going to keep my eye on is ...
I'm going to keep my eye on my UConn buddy, Hasheem Thabeet. I like his game and he will show lots of improvements as the season continues. I will also be watching Blake Griffin.
