I will move one of the following, depending on the best offer i get.

Prime Shaq,
at this point in his career he was the most dominant big man we've seen, unstoppable literally. Do not low ball me, he can win just about any team the title, looking for a big package deal.....He's freaking shaq for jesus sake.

Young Kobe,
we all know what he becomes, the best player all around player in the league, i dont care what his "value" was at this time in history, we still all know what he becomes, If i move him looking for 2 "semi" stars and a contraction pick.... at least that.

i will not just move them becuause, but once i get the right offer i will pull the trigger on a deal, and build around that other player.

Minnesota is looking like they have a bright future ahead of them (w/o the Sealy tragedy, Brandon injury, and Joe Smith fiasco).

Minnesota is looking to trade a young Joe Smith (he avg. 13.7pts and 8.2 reb per game the previous year).

I forgot about desiwun, turns out the league is NOW FULL!

Trade away guys, get your rosters up first though.

Also HIT EM UP, DESIWUN, and DENIED post your email/AIM so I can add that info to the roster page so people can contact you for trades, etc.

What websites are you all using to find the contract lengths.

Basketball reference only gives me the player salaries for each particular year.

Do I have to look through Pro Sports Transactions and find out what each contract looked like when it was signed? Or is there an easier way?

PST is how I did it...took me about 20min total. Once everyone gets these first contracts on their rosters we'll be fine and have them all. (Speaking of which, Bness if you want offers for Kobe/Shaq or anyone else, you need to list their salaries :))

here is what you use
this should is the link for the NBA in 1999/2000

http://www.basketball-reference.com/lea ... _2000.html

if you click on your team, the team salaries are at the bottom. you can click on each player to see what they were paid for all the seasons.

As far as contracts are concerned, use this link

http://www.prosportstransactions.com/ba ... Search.php

type in the players name (correct spelling is important) and you can see when contract were signed and for how long. Anything signed after 2000 did not happen, contracts before that are what we are using. If a player signed a 6 year contract with player option after 4th year, and the player opted out. I just listed it as a 4 year deal, because no way of know what the option was.

Guys, check PST for EVERY player. It doesn't take long. There's no way of knowing when their current contract ends if you don't check to see how many years were on the original deal.

couple of questions...

What exact day does this simulation start on?

How will extensions of players contracts be handled? I can;t think of a fair way so I wouldn't mind doing away with them. Who can represent the player's best interest if there is no free market to determine his value?

Will have my roster up soon...

It would make it interesting, I think we'll let players decide if they want to take an extention but in many cases the player may opt for fa. Remember this is a 16 team league so the standerds of a good team/future are much higher. I'll control fa and I'll be objective taking into account money/years/market/team. Whenever I sign a fa there will be a public veto system in case you guys think it's not enough money, my team isn't good enough, etc.

What do you think of a silent auction for FAs?? You send in your bid for the player for the commish and the highest bidder wins.

looking at the rules i see that every team will be over the cap (some double or triple) untill the current contracts run out. Every player after the contraction of half the teams is now 50% over paid.

I would have a higher salary cap with 16 teams instead of 30. Currently the cap is 57mil x30 teams. If there was only 16 teams rev would be down no doubt but with half the teams the cap would be somewhere around 75mil. I would at least have a sliding scale something like 150%, 125% 110%, 100%.

I realy feel for the 50 win teams as they will be looking to bring in players and they will be screwed for FAs for many yrs to come. I also feel sorry for 01,02,03 FAs as allstars will sign for less money than a 1999 7th man made. Im going to take my 20 mil in cap space and be able to sign franchise players for 2mil a yr.

The Pistons are coveting there cap space and will be looking for picks and talent on good contracts for space.

Warspite I'm thinking of bumping the soft cap (signing players) to 50 mill and the hard cap to 70 mill and I love the silent aucation idea, we will do that. When I bid on players I will post my bids and make them public.

Dallas: if you agree to a trade confirm after the other party announces it this is getting annoying.

Bness: you have all your picks we aren't doing the I owe this team this pick it would make it to complex I'm trying to keep this as simple as possible. Also the contraction draft picks are dependant on where you finished in the 99/00 season. The worst your team was the better your pick. Suffice to way la's pick will be low.
