Pacers Fan Jam... anyone else go?

Post#1 » by Dunthreevy » Mon Oct 26, 2009 1:38 pm

I went for the 2nd consecutive year with the ol' boy HookShotHibbert and his wife and their future Pacer. Had a lot of fun again. It was set up a little different this year as far as the seating in the stands but overall it was pretty much the same event as last year. We were able to get jerseys autographed by a couple of players and witnessed the akwardness known as Tyler Hansbrough. I swear the kid has the personality of Mr. Magoo. Maybe he's just still got rookie nerves or something, but he really seems to be an introvert. I could really care less how outgoing his personality is though, as long as he produces on the court.

So did anyone else on here get a chance to get to Conseco for the Jam? Get any cool stuff?

This is what I walked away with...

I wasn't able to attend, but a good friend of mine went a gave me a pretty solid coozie. I have never been to the event before, but I definitely plan on attending next year. I specialize in knockout, so the team better hope I don't get in the game!

1.) The knockout game is always a solid event. Hibbie was the winner last year and would have won this year had he not mis-timed his goaltending attempt on Luther Head!! Congrats to Luther on his win.

2.) I also enjoyed the huge game of 'simon says' which Granger was the winner for the players. In route to victory, he displayed some solid dance moves.

3.) As for the rookie sing-off, no one topped Hibbert's "Fresh prince of bel aire" theme from '08 where he forgot the words!! Who forgets the words to that song!!!.....Although this year Phsyco T wanted to perform the theme to 'Ghostbusters' but the D.J. didn't have the beat. If he did, I think it would have been a great performance. I think next yr the player should get with the dj before the event to make sure he has the track they want to perform.

All in all it is a great event to win free prizes and mingle with the players and to see them goof around "off the cuff". You really don't see much in way of basketball skills, but you get a great insight to their off the court personality!!

Also, Croshere was there signing autographs as a Pacer 'legend'...It was nice to see he actually stuck around after the autograph session to watch some of the on court activies with his family.

My family and I went. Not a lot of people there. Plenty of free parking. I got all the autographs just like last year. But one was my favorite. I bought a Pacers Garden Gnome at the "Pacers Garage Sale" and had Josh sign its beard. Heres a pic of what it looks like without the autograph of course.

As for for Tyler. I honestly thought he was a real ****. But as was said before, it doesnt matter as long as he shows up for games. All in all very fun. I did ask Austin when would we see him on the sidelines with a suit and tie. He just laughed and then looked up, and said "who knows that could be an option" So i guess we will see. Great event every year. Good to see they keep spending money on stuff like this for the fans spite their financial issues.

That is phenomenal! We were looking at those garden gnomes in the gift shop. That's hilarious that you got McBob to sign the McBeard.

When I was getting Hibbert and Dunleavy's autographs, I asked Mike, "So is the knee feeling good?"
His response was a rather unimpressive and short "Yup", and he never looked up from signing. Now normally I would chaulk it up to him being annoyed from a long day of signing, but I was one of the first 25 people he signed for. After reading Bruno's blog today, coupled with Mike's response yesterday, I get the feeling he is a bit letdown after his most recent setback.

When camp opened, it appeared Dunleavy was poised to practice but an MRI revealed a ligament strain in his surgically repaired knee and he has yet to take the court. Until he is able to resume basketball workouts, there will be nothing resembling a timetable for his return.

I was going to go, but decided to watch the Colts win by 36 instead. I remember 10 or so years ago when they had it on like Tuesday nights. It was better for me then, but worse for families with youngsters, I suppose. Anyways, sweet jersey. As for the gnome.... I am speechless. Great pick-up.

HookShotHibbert, is that your son (it's a boy, right?) in your avatar? If he became the mascot it would boost the anemic ticket sales.

Yes that is my 'new' son. And actually BabyHookShotHibbert (is it too early to reserve a RealGM handle for him?) has already boosted the ticket sales. I was going to let my season tickets go and 'he' renewed them for me for Father's Day!!! (shout outs to Mrs. HookShotHibbert)....And of course I couldn't go to the games alone, so Dunthreevy had to renew too!!

Nice. Thanks for doing your part to keep attendance over 40 per game.

Come on now, there are at least 4,000 people at every game... sad part is, even in jest, that's a fairly accurate statement. Even the attendance of the Fan Jam was down this year (possibly because there was a Colts game that didn't finish up until after the Jam started).

Do they advertise it? If HookShot and Dunthreevy wouldn't have told me about it, I would have had no idea it was even happening....I am not a hardcore P's fan though (Hold back the Boo's please)

I don't watch much tv or read the star, so I can't speak to the advertisement level in those genres. I do however listen to about 10 hours of radio a day and I know I heard a couple of ads for the event but not enough that it would be widely known about. I also know I head atleast one local dj talk about the event when refering to weekend happenings in the area. It was well advertised on the website for anyone who is ever on the Pacers site.
