Paul Davis Made The Squad!

Post#1 » by dlts20 » Mon Oct 26, 2009 6:13 pm

IDK if this is worthy of its own thread but I couldnt really find it where else to put it. Feel free to merge it. I started to put it in the lineup thread but decided not too. Anyways, congrats Paul. I love how he came here because of Gil. I remember reading where a fan said he went out to "Attacks" in the Summer and saw the pickup games with stars like Gil, Lebron, Wade, and so on. He said he came out to see Lebron but Gil was by far the best player there and was making Iggy & Paul Davis look like stars.

When I saw him out here I knew he came because of Gil made him look like a star and Im glad he made it. Thats awesome

Link? Mike Lee's blog? This wouldn't surprise me, Davis is 7 ft(?) non-banger, Ernie loves those.
It's gotta be a non-gurantee contract if-true.

Hey! He appears to be a smart player who was expected to be drafted but didn't. He couldn't be the offensive/defensive black-hole that Orberto is so I would love to see him out there (doubtful). Yes Oberto does alot of nice things that don't show-up on the stat sheet, but on-balance he may hurt on against Dallas.

Good for him. I don't think anyone really expected him to stick, but with Jamison's injury, it can't hurt having an extra big familiar with what's going on on the roster.

I'm curious about the terms of his contract. We can use an emergency big man so I don't have a problem with keeping him. The downside is that he takes our last roster spot. If we get a rash of injuries at one position, we no longer have the flexibility so sign somebody unless Davis is cut (which hurts financially assuming his contract is guaranteed).

I suppose one can argue that we are 4 deep at PG, SG and SF anyhow. It's unlikely that we'll need another. If we get decimated by injuries, it'll be at the PF or C position. Davis IS a PF so that makes sense. And if we get hurt at the C position, it's not like there's any extra centers hanging around on the waiver wire anyhow. We'd be forced to play a PF like Blatche or Oberto at C, so the addition of Davis makes sense.

^ This also gives us minimum salary filler to include in trades. Could come in pretty handy if we need a little boost to make the numbers work.

Yeah, but Mike Lee still got scooped :) I am happy for Mike Jones, it shows he's doing his job.

Take it to the bank that Davis's contract is non-guaranteed and that he will be cut once AJ gets back into the mix. No-way this team pays the lux-tax to keep Davis around....unless he can play his way past Orberto or even Blatche in the rotation. Wouldn't that be something?

Why not? Maybe Davis can fill the big shoes of Ruffin and Veermenko.

Nice, we now have our token white guy!

right. and having a token tall white guy sitting at the end of your bench is a time-tested ingredient in any championship roster. (see: Greg Kite, Chuck Nevitt, Mark Madsen, Michael Doleac, the list goes on ...) See, I tol' ya Ernie knew how to build a champion.

Bring back super man Kurt Rambus.

Hey, we are going to need some extra fouls for the likes of Shaq. 7-0 270. Even if he isn't a banger, that has to come in handy.

Any yeah, you have to spinkle your squad with some white dudes. Keep it fresh. Nothing like a locker room of Hip Hop and Country to open the mind and make things fun. A little Kid Rock - Cowboy for when they can't decide which to listen to.

I like this squad. Young but not overly young which a nice mix. Next peoples to add have to be tough people though. We are still a little soft.

I liked Paul Davis a lot with the Clippers. He's definitely a NBA quality player IMO and I'm surprised he had to work so hard to make a roster. You will be pleasantly surprised with him.
