Has not trained in 3.5 weeks? Wonder what the problem is?

This sucks. I wonder who steps in and fights Carwin. Big Nog? Mir? Cain? dos Santos? All make some sense.

I don't feel Carwin should have to fight anyone else. He was told he was getting a title shot so he should get it.

UFC 108 (Jan 2nd) would be easy to move the Lesnar/Carwin fight to. It's also in Vegas (I think I read somewhere that Brock only wants to fight there). It also makes that card stacked at the top.

Heavyweight bout: Brock Lesnar vs. Shane Carwin
Light Heavyweight bout: Rashad Evans vs. Thiago Silva
Heavyweight bout: Gabriel Gonzaga vs. Junior dos Santos (winner likely faces winner of Lesnar/Carwin fight)

Lightweight bout: Tyson Griffin vs. Jim Miller
Welterweight bout: Carlos Condit vs. Paul Daley
Welterweight bout: Martin Kampmann vs. Rory Markham
Lightweight bout: Joe Lauzon vs. Sam Stout
Middleweight bout: Mark Munoz vs. Ryan Jensen
Lightweight bout: Cole Miller vs. Dan Lauzon
Welterweight bout: Mike Pyle vs. Jake Ellenberger

However I don't know what you do at UFC 106. Do you make Ortiz/Griffin your main event and get another co-main event?

BTW I just saw the UFC 106 promo on Spike, it looked awesome. Too bad.

The problem with that though is that it leaves a giant, main event type hole on the UFC 106 card. I think this is far enough off to get Carwin a replacement and have him fight.

106 would go from being awesome to pretty crappy if they don't do something about this.

I'd like to see Carwin get the shot that he was promised, but on the flip side, the original matchup was Carwin/Cain, so maybe that can be reconciled.

Cain hardly took any damage against Rothwell, but I still don't know how common it is to fight twice in such a short period of time.

Carwin is getting his shot at UFC 108. He confirmed it on his twitter account.

I don't wanna see Cain vs Carwin because if Cain wins there will be Cain vs Lesnar, and Cain stands no chance against Lesnar with his style. It wouldnt be fair to Carwin but id like to see Carwin vs Big Nog. That would be an entertaining match and If Nogueira wins he stands a chance against Lesnar when hes 100% and his great chin holds up.

Now that that's cleared up, what to do with 106?

I don't think the UFC will do much more to 106. Griffin and Forrest will be the main event and lil nog/Cane will co-main. Or maybe Hughes?

Not much they can do really. There are actually a handful of good fights on the undercard, but there is very little name value on this card.

I'm excited to see Lil Nog, but not too much more interests me on that card without Carwin/Lesnar.

Saying none of the fights interest me is too strong actually, but I'm not sure how well that is going to sell now.

Saunders and Marcus Davis will be a war. Hazelett and Karo will likely be a good fight as well. Sadly for Lil Nog, he is going to get beat up by Luiz Cane. Cane is the best kept secret in MMA now that Bones Jones and Rumble Johnson are blowing up.

Losing Brock will hurt their PPV numbers. There is no fix out there that can change that.

Dos Santos-Carwin would be badass.

I personally think Dos Santos is the best kept secret in the HW division, not that many people know about him

I love Dos Santos's game. I also would keep an eye out for George Sotiropolous, he owned his last fight and could be a legit conetnder in the wide open lightweight division if he wins his next 2 fights. I wouldnt count out Lil Nog either. His boxing is top notch in a stand up battle against Cane he could win.

I'll admit to not knowing much about Cane, but he must be pretty good to count out a Noguiera.

8-)

Ortiz-Griffin is the main event, the new co-main event will be announced later this week according to UFC.com.

Edit- Forgot to mention that SIlva-Belfort will likely be on the 108 card also. That makes the card even more stacked.

He has potential but the dude was not very impressive against Cro Cop. I think he needs more seasoning before he's ready to be put into the title contention category.
