Here are the Rondo $ numbers being negotiated
Jeff Goodman of Foxsports.com said on CSN that the Celtics are offering a 5 year deal totaling 45 million. Rondo and his agent are seeking 55 to 60 million.
Goodman says that seems close and thinks there's a good chance a deal gets done.

So if they split the difference... it works out to $10 million to $10.5 per year.....
Just what Max. said..... around $10 million.....
If he was offered a Max deal next summer... that would be between $12.5 and $13.5 depending on the cap.

Goodman said he thinks the Celtics are willing to go up, but the question is whether Rondo and his agent are willing to come down.

Maxwell said he spoke to Rondo after the season ended in early summer....
Rondo told him somewhere around $10 million.....would work for him...
thats the mid-point give or take......maybe $10.5

didn't you write that Rondo wasn't worth this type of deal.....
and I quote:

haha you're like a Thread Machine for Rondo. are you his agent?
but i think that list strongly illustrates the point i'm trying to make: you only get paid >10mil if you are *big-time* offensive thread. all those guys are 20 ppg type scorers, guys who can carry a team offensively, guys that opposing teams have to gameplan to stop. as opposed to rondo, where the opposing gameplan is often to blatantly ignore him because they know he can't beat you on the offensive end.
you have to go down to Calderon (making $8.2 million) to find a guy who isn't a big-time offensive threat, and i think we'd all agree that Calderon is grossly overpaid.
so no, Rondo isn't in the top-8. not even close. yet.

Dude everyone has said he is worth between 8-10 mil, including Danny Ainge who offered him 9. Your the one saying he is worth 15 mil per, even Rondo doesn't seem to think he is worth that.

No. 9-10 million is fine for him. I think all Celtics fans are more than happy to give this to him. Hopefully he doesn't get fat and happy with this contract.
And ... someone get a splash-guard for wolves' keyboard if this deal gets done.

$11M a year for a guy that can't even make the all star game? He should consider himself lucky to be offered $9M per year.

every time I discussed Rondo I said we should offer him $10 million now in the fall, because another team will offer him $12.5, the forecast max for a player like Rondo next season....
I defy to find anyplace that said $15 million...
That would be impossible...
If Rondo was a restricted this past summer he could have gotten $13.5 and the NBA has forecast that the salary cap will be about $50 million next year......
For someone with 6 years or fewer of experience the max is 25% of the salary cap - hence $12.5 ...
so don't LIE about my saying $15 million.... that most that is even possible is about $12.5 subject to the final salary cap.

no, many said Rondo wasn't as good as Harris or Calderon and should be paid accordingly..$8 million or less.... particle is one of those people....
others said we should pay him $8 to $10 million absolutely max.......and he would never be offered more....
but all NBA analysts quoted have said, Rondo will get offered a max or near max contract i in free agency if he makes it there....I can produced quotes from four analysts.......
Ainge is uncomfortable letting rondo go to free agency.........and is trying to work a deal at $10 to $10.5 million...... which is what I've been saying he should be doing.... in all of my posts......
[Ainge started at $9 million to give himself negotiating room. The analyst on comcast said ainge was willing to move up.]

To be fair, I've seen posts from pretty respectable posters that have said that $8 million per for Rondo would be very arguable in terms of him being worth that amount.
Anyway, am I the only one who finds that the evening before opening night might not be the ideal time for these negotiations?

+1, and I like Rondo, and I did consider it a snub that mo williams got in over him last year, but I never forget that he's on a team with 3 unselfish all stars (some more unselfish than others). 8 mill/year is extremely fair imho.

Geeze, Are you so worked up you really feel the need to respond twice?
You haven't even been a member for a month and you already have 400 posts. Get a life.
The consensus has certainly been 8-10 million range among many of the fans. Based on Rondos current performance 10-11 million is a slight overpay. It could be great value if Rondos jumper becomes more consistent. But it's not a value signing like you make it out to be.

Ainge realized what I've been saying a month is true....
You can sign Rondo for about $10 million now.....[maybe $10.5]
and someone is likely offer Rondo the $12.5 million max next summer..... so the Celtics are better off getting him signed now....
If they wait till next summer.... it will cost them more if they want to match or they lose Rondo with no compensation....
THATS BEEN MY ARGUMENT FOR THE LAST MONTH!!

Well, when you throw out the $12.5 million figure, that is just the first year salary. Given that most max contracts have annual raises built into them (I think around 10%), that is where Sully is getting the $15 million average, I believe.

I have never said $15 million....and it is wrong to say that I did.......
I've always said $12.5 million or 25% of the cap.
the escalators are matters of negotiation like everything else...
contract numbers can go up, they can go down or they can stay flat.......
I'm guessing and I'm sure the NBA is hoping most deals going forward have small or nonexistent escalators...
With the cap dropping from $59 million a few years ago to an estimated $50 million next year [estimated by the NBA this past summer] ....I doubt many contracts are going to have big escalators...... it is just too risky for teams.....
