Rajon Rondo
It appears that Rondo will become an RFA next off-season, should we shoot our load likely around 10 million towards Rondo as a Free Agent signee?
Assuming we did so, a line-up with Evans/Rondo couldn't shoot, but would be unbelievable defensively. With both Hawes and Thompson able to shoot deep and Martin could play the 3 offensively, we might be able to pull that off.
Roster without draft considerations.
C: Hawes
PF: Thompson, Nocioni, Brockman
SF: Martin, Casspi, Greene
SG: Evans, Garcia
PG: Rondo, Beno
Thoughts?

Re: Rajon Rondo
I think we should pursue Rondo with all that we can hopefully he is one of the guys that gets lost in the 2010 hoopla of free agency. I think he is the type of play maker that we need, if Tyreke isnt out point guard, and we sign Rondo I dont really see a place for Keven, so a Rondo signing to me, means that we need to rid our selves of K-Mart who in my oppinion cannot play small forward.

He can play the 3 on Offense and the 2 on defense. Tyreke can handle 3's on Defense. Or just play tyreke as a 3. 2's and 3's are often interchangeable.

That's a waste.
Evans playing SF pretty much eliminates most of his advantages (mainly his size/strength). Evans is stronger than pretty much every PG, stronger than most SG's, but won't be considered "big" or "strong" if he's playing against the Lebron's, Artest's, Pierce's, etc.

No it defers his verstatility, he's quicker, has a PG handle and will drive at will on the bigger, slower defenders.

Re: Rajon Rondo
Ehh, Rondo is a really poor fit with Tyreke. As of right now, Tyreke is the PG of the future, so I wouldn't plan on pursuing another PG.

I just dig our perimeter defense with the addition of Rondo(who we could've drafted, LOL).

Well it works both ways, he's faster, but most of the elite SF's will just post him up all day long. Evans won't be able to stop Lebron, Carmelo, Pierce, etc. from posting up on him.
So on one end we win, on the other we lose.
If that's the case, I'd rather have Evans at PG where he has an advantage on both ends of the court.

^^Im glad to hear someone else is frustrated with that decision as much as me. I rather have Blair instead of sergio/brockamn. I thought that was such a waste of a high second round pick to just trade it off like that.

Sure, me too. But it's just not worth the hit we would take on offense. Neither Rondo or Tyreke would be ultimately effective if they had to play together--not until one of them proves able to play off the ball effectively.

Ehh, I don't necessarily know about that. He's smaller than them, but his length should definitely help make up for a lack of height, and his strength would also help him out a lot. It certainly wouldn't be a total mismatch.

Re: Rajon Rondo
It would be nice to acquire Rondo's skill/talent but he would be a poor fit here with Evans. (Plus, there is a risk that Rondo might not able to play as he was in Boston due to having playing with 3 HOFers i.e. relieving tremendous pressure from players such as Rondo.)

Rondo and Evans would be the worst shooting backcourt in the league.

Any team that drops major money down on Rondo is going to be making a big mistake.

Not a bad team, problem is it's one of the easiest teams to defend I've ever seen.

I'm still sad we have Rodriguez and Brockman instead of Blair
Check back to the draft day discussion for my views on Blair. Just got too lazy to bring the torch to Petrie's front door. With that said, I really like Brockman. Don't sleep on this guy.

I'm saying it now, I'm on the Aldrich to Sacramento train already.

Was there anyone that didn't want Blair? I thought everyone liked the kid. I still don't understand why some contending teams passed on him. Blair is already one of the top backup rebounders in the league. Ya, maybe you only have him for 3-5 seasons, but look at him as a Free Agent, that'll get you 5-7 rebounds within 15 minutes a game, that provides some hustle and toughness, and maybe 5-6 points. All of that for about 500k. Is there a single free agent that'll do that? Nope. Some GM's makes me wonder at times

I think playing alongside Allen, Pierce, and KG I could look like a capable PG. Rondo has done well enough, but really who is paying him any attention?
KANGZZZZZ!
