I traded D. Rose for...

Post#1 » by creative1 » Tue Oct 27, 2009 12:13 am

Kevin Martin. I needed 3pt shooting and I'll take Kevin Martin's scoring and FT shooting as well (we count FTM in our league). I think Martin should have a monster year if he can stay healthy. No Garcia for 4 months should completely open the floor up. However, I will admit Martin has burned me the last 2 years with injuries. Let me know what you think of the trade and my squad. And yes, I know my C's are DOMINANT. Here's my team (10 team, standard cats + FTM, H2H)

Excellent trade.

With FTM, Martin's value is through the roof.

It's pretty obvious you got the better value in the trade. you already have Kidd/Rondo as well.

Yep D.Rose is overrated kind of, and K-Mart can be as good as a second rounder.

I think it is a solid (very good) trade under those league's criteria.

Just a heads up. Kevin Martin isn't going to draw 10 FTs a game anymore. Martin said that he will attack less to the basket (He stated that he envision himself averaging 7-8.5 FTs per game) but concentrating more on his mid range game. (playing with picks, curls, back doors and etc..) So, I expect Martin's FG% come right back up to his usual efficient numbers (45-48% FG) and his overall game be better i.e steals, assists, and rebounds. Playing with Evans would make ease so much pressure off from him.

I think 7-8.5 FT's a game is still great, especially if it drives his FG% back up. They really don't have many people on their team this year so I'm expecting HUGE #'s from the starters. I guess that's why I took Martin, T. Evans, and Jason Thompson. :)

Kind of random... but do you think T. Evans wins ROY now that Blake is down 6 weeks?

His preseason #s would suggest that. While it is only preseason, if I was a betting man, definitely get some money on him.

He and J-Fly are the favorites now, IMO with Curry sitting in third.

I think he has the best chance outside of Griffin to win it. And now, Griffin is down, I would assume Evans would take a healthy lead over him in the ROY race assuming that Evans comes out strong out of the gate.

*And I think Flynn can be discussed in the race too. Flynn and Evans will be probably fighting for the ROY rankings/race during Griffin's absence IMO*

So, now for the hard question... do you drop Blake Griffin because he is out 6 weeks? I think he will be good when he plays but I don't really like waiting that long on anyone. The good news is that my roster is stacked with big men (as you can see), so I could lose his stats and it wouldn't kill me. However, I could drop him and pick up a 3pt shooter for 4 weeks and then try to pick him back up.

Thoughts? Any Griffin owners dropping him?

Are you in a Keeper league? If so, IMO I wouldn't drop Griffin. He is too good of a prospect to drop in a keeper league. If not, I think you can do it for a period of time and re-snatch him back when he is almost healthy.

Great trade ... you have a good chance of winning the league.

No, I'm not in a keeper league. It makes me worry that someone will take the risk of picking him up while he's injured. I'm kind of leaning towards dropping him because that's a long time and no one knows if he'll even produce. He would be nice in the playoffs though. I don't know what to do. He could be back faster than 6 weeks but it's probably more likely it could take longer than 6.

Hmm. If it is not a keepers league, you can take a risk and drop him and obtain a beneficiary player for the time being. If I was you, I don't want to risk dropping a prospect in Griffin haha

Tough choice indeed.

if you have players that are goint to give you assists (which you do in kidd and rondo), then i would trade d. rose for martin everyday of the week.

you'll have their shoes.
