i know that the great QBs make others around him better.
i know that Vick was only an average QB at best.
but Dunn is the same and the offensive line is pretty much the same except for Blalock.
but... Vick really does make Dunn and the OLine better than they really are. Vick didn't make the WRs any better, but forget about the 1000 yards he added to the team total, Vick just standing their is enough to freeze the defense to let Dunn get alot more yards then he can get on his own.

I'm gonna put some of that blame on Petrino not understanding the limitations of his QB.
Joey Harrington is a guy who needs to get rid of the ball quickly, a guy who clearly crumbles under pressure. But Petrino runs an offense where the WRs primarily run deeper patterns that take more time to develop. That's not playing to his strengths. The regression of Alge Crumpler and Warrick Dunn have limited that short game that Joey can actually execute with some aptitude.
That doesn't address the swiss cheese secondary or the lack of anyone but Abraham ever getting into the backfield though.

^ i do like Petrino , but wishes he would call alot more max protect when needed.
i know that Petrino doesn't have the players he wants, but it think the great coaches, take the players they have and prepares a scheme that uses who is on the roster and not who he wants on the roster.... AKA "make adjustments"

Joey hasn't had a problem making the throws. When he's protected (and the receivers are catching the ball) he has played extremely well. When he's getting pressured all day is when he struggles. That messes with his head during the few times he actually has a solid pocket to throw from.
Not saying Joey has played great every game, he still has his problems, but it isn't the system.

You really think that after the Giants game?
Why would the Giants game change my mind? I saw what I have seen all year: the OL getting dominated. Joey didn't play good at all, but the receivers dropped several passes, most were drive killing ones. Michael Vick did all he could to mask the OL's enormous shortcomings, we don't have that ability in our offense anymore and we're seeing the results.

I would agree with more quick passes like the 30+ yarder Roddy caught Monday, but that's more play calling within the system than the actual system. You can't just call those all day. Unless you're playing our defense. As Brett Favre and Donald Driver learned a couple years ago, that works 100% of the time. Smart defenses would have a field day with that.
