GT: Toronto @ Anaheim

Post#1 » by hsb » Tue Oct 27, 2009 4:20 am

Bad gamethread, I know, but the last one got deleted somehow.

5-2 Toronto.

3rd period 11 minutes left. They might take this. Kabarle with three assists and a goal.
"I definitely knew he traveled, but I didn't know they were going to call it. That was one of them situations in which a great player made a move...and they called the call. And I was like, 'Oh, man, there is a God.'

19 shots in the first. Cant say they didn't have a game plan.

First 5 point game for Kabarle. Gustavsson had a great pad save in the first as well.

They were aggressive and forced the refs to make calls. Really benefited the Leafs and the reason they won the game. Hagman with the hat trick.

I'm probably the only Leaf fan left who still thinks that this year's team is a decent one (7-11 in the East). The Leafs have played terribly so far this year but not 0-7-1 terrible. They played well enough to win a couple games and haven't had any bounces go their way. As long as they get good goaltending from Gustavsson, then they'll be fine this year and one win could get things rolling for them.

In the NHL, a 0-7-1 start is deadly. The point system punishes those really bad teams that fall too far behind like that. I remember the heydays of the Sundin Leafs--they used to stay in contention by just getting to OT and getting at least a point. In fact, they used to make a living out of getting to OT somehow when they weren't playing well.

How ironic that the system the Leafs used to abuse is now turned against us.
