Chiefs to release Larry Johnson

So is this a gift falling to the Packers feet if they can get him? Im alittle shocked to see such a high profile player just getting released through the season. I would hope the Packers do whatever possable to get him.

Major douchebag. Even bigger moron. But if he has something left in the tank.......

He's been lousy this season but I looked at his game logs from last year. He had some big ones and averaged 4.5 on the season.

I wouldn't scream bloody murder if they brought him in for a look but I could understand why a team would want nothing to do with the guy.

I never really thought he was that great of a back. He had to be decent with the numbers he put up, I guess but either way I think he has way too much tread on the tires and those years are past him anyways.

I think he was 95% a product of a great line and system there.

EDIT: Nevermind my Priest Holmes comments, I forgot he was pretty good with Baltimore to start out.

Well we have no RB and no chance of winnign a playoff game if we make the playoffs. I thik LJ was just really unhappy in KC and just needs to be on a diff team.

Who was the Patriots RB two years ago? Who was the Colts RB when they won the Super Bowl? Hell, who was the Steelers RB last year?

That fallacy has been proven false so many times. Sure you need a semblance of a running game, but you can go far without an impact back. I'm going to get ridiculed for this, but so be it. Ryan Grant's a better back than LJ is right now.

Yup, he's always seemed like a douchebag and yes, is a blatant idiot for the way he called out his coach for the world to see on Twitter when he hasn't done jack **** this season.

I'm not convinced he does have anything left in the tank. I think he's done.

Ya you guys are right on LJ and make a good point and the more I think about it the only thing I want out of a Rb is for him to pick up block good for Rodgers, and catch the ball alot so Rodgers has a nice target to dump it off to.

LJ is similar to Grant and I really dislike Grant.

LJ was better than Grant, but now I'm not so sure. His history as a nutcase should be reason enough to stay away. I also don't think he has anything left in the tank, but then again I was convinced that Cedric Benson didn't have a tank to begin with and it looks like I was dead wrong on that one.

It's not a huge upgrade from Grant to be honest, and he has the possibility to cause major problems. I'd pass unless it was dirt cheap.

If he had been completely ineffective last season I would say no, without a doubt. But he did put up solid numbers on a team with some of the worst QB play in the league. You know he had to be seeing 8 men in the box on every single play.

As for why he's sucked this season....I have no idea. I don't watch the Chiefs. But if he passed a physical and looked to be in shape I'd probably sign him if I were Thompson and MM was on board.

Remember when many fans were b*tching about Ted not paying up to bring this guy in a few years ago. Glad that didn't happen. I don't watch the Chiefs but I think he's only had a couple good years and he is a major headache. I've read that he is a pain in the a** teammate, very moody and unaproachable, and has had run ins with the law, media, etc. Worth a look for cheap? Sure I guess. Otherwise I stay away.

I don't think anyone is going to give this guy a ton of money. I'd bring him in because we can always cut him if he acts up. He should know if he gets cut by a 2nd team mid season that his future in the league will be in serious doubt, so hopefully that will be motivation enough for him to stay quiet. TT is not afraid to bring in guys with character issues as long as it is on the cheap (Koren Robinson).

i'd take a look at him not only because he'd be nice to have incase grant went down, but i'd also do it to prevent other nfc teams from signing him. philly, arizona, and chicago all could use a boost to their rushing offense, and we'll be competing with them for a playoff spot.

The only reason I'd be inclined in any way to give him a shot is because he would now be playing for a contract next season, so he'd be on his best behavior and running hard. Plus going from a consistently bad team to a team that's got a shot can change somebody. It's just that I haven't seen anything from him lately that indicates he can do what he was once capable of physically.

I highly doubt they want a guy like this around the locker room.

Return to Green Bay Packers
