So this seems pretty common on other teams boards and I think we could use a place for just us Jazz fans to talk about something other than the Jazz and the Knicks.

A sticky would be awesome in place of the Offseason Moves thread.

So Houston looked terrible tonight, I don't think they'll be able to score the ball all year unless McGrady comes back, and even if the comes back I don't put a whole lot of faith in an injury prone innefficient scorer to get them over the playoff hump. Good to see Houston looking like garbage.

Portland looked solid. Looks like they are definitely bringing Andre Miller off the bench to start the year to keep some shooting on the floor with Steve Blake.

Dallas played a 9 man line up on opening night in a loss to the Wizards at home. And in that rotation was former Jazz man Kris Humprhies who only played 4 minutes. Dallas will struggle if they can't get more guys on the floor.

Scola looked horrible, he needs to pick it up, I have him on a bunch of fantasy teams......

And why is Houston's coach starting Chuck Hayes (and playing him 25 minutes) when he has much better frontcourt players in Landry and Andersen? On the other hand Kyle Lowry looked good.......

Portland is going to be solid this year, they might actually be contenders, although one more year of development out of Oden and Fernandez wouldn't hurt.......

How about Washington beating Dallas in Dallas with no Jamison? That was a surprise........

Yeah, I thought Dallas made some really good moves getting Marion and Gooden, but maybe losing Bass is going to hurt more than I thought.

Chuck Hayes was solid against Oden tonight so maybe they want his defense in the starting line up and the Spark of Landry off the bench.

Regardless Houston can't score the ball so I don't think it really matters who they put in the line up. They are going to have to rely heavily on their guards to create open shots for the rest of the team, and if I had Lowry and Brooks as my PG's that wouldn't really give me much to be optimistic about.

How the hell did Mavs lose to the Wiz? Arenas was insane, and what happened with the Cavs game? I had them on streak.

Arenas looked very good, looks like he is out to prove all his doubters wrong. I have always loved Agent-0 as a player, he is going to be up there will CP3, D-Will, Rose, Billups and Nash as the top pg's in the NBA. Should be interesting to see how Washington does this season with everyone coming back finally.

Scola was horrible, I too have him on a bunch of my fantasy teams. I was really surprised to see how badly he performed but I expect him to turn things around. He has been nothing but solid since coming into the NBA.

Oden is a terrible passer out of the post and needs to work on his overall offensive game. He looks very clunky in the post and needs to get back to playing smooth again like he did in college. He should be able to provide 12+ rebounds and 2+ blocks per game this year with his size and athleticism.

Houston could be in for a very long and disappointing season. Portland is a solid team but you wont be able to compete for a championship until Oden and their other young players develop. Cleveland still needs another big offensive player that can take over the game when Lebron is on the bench and help him in end game situations. The man can only do so much and the elite teams in the East are good enough to withstand anything Lebron throws at em. Boston and Lakers will be in the finals unless Orlando and SA pull and upset. Washington will compete to be a top 4 team in the East but are probably not good enough to be considered an elite team.

Some thoughts from yesterday:
Celtics are too good. They just seem like they can beat any team on any given night, no matter where they're playing. The Cavs won't be able to compete with the Celtics or the Magic IMO. Their offense is horrible and they don't look as good on defense as last year. Arenas looks great and the Wizards look solid overall. The Mavs need Josh Howard healthy. The Rockets will struggle this year. Except against the Jazz. They are built to beat the Jazz IMO. Good defenders, pg who can penetrate, guys that can shoot 3s. Watch the Jazz double down low against the likes of Scola, Landry and Hayes while Battier and Ariza knock 3 after 3. Blazers look good, just like last year. The Lakers toyed with the Clips even without Gasol. Clips look horrible. They have good players, but the team is just a mess.

i saw some of the mavs game. they dont look as good as their hype. i saw a play where they had a 4 on 2 fast break and threw up a 3. it bricked out and bounced to the wizards who were trailing behind and they scored an easy layup on their own fast break.

maybe ive been watching sloan's game's too long, but my first reaction was "what in idiotic move, the coach should bench that player who did that(i believe it was terry). but if that's how they are coached, then that's why they are going to lose this game."

and the mavs lost. i predict a winning season for them, but probably not a home court playoff team IMO. (all this from a single play in the beginning of the 3rd quarter

Charlotte held to 59 points. Who could have seen that coming? You know, apart from anyone who knows anything about basketball.

Actually the thing is Charlotte usually plays tough against the Celtics. But yeah, they're awful.

I don't know if it was because the Bobcats suck or if the Celtics are really just that good. The Celtics are going to be unstoppable this year and unless Orlando has something to say about it are going to have an easy ride to the #1 seed and the need finals.

Worst offense in league vs Best defense in league = 59 points.

Bobcats won't be the worst team in the league cuz they will be great defensively. But their offense is beyond atrocious. Why they didn't pick up AI baffles me.

Bingo. Look at the shooting numbers from their point guards last night...uggggh. (Obviously that won't be permanent; Felton and Augustin have talent and they won't have to play Rondo every night. But still.) They have a roster full of complementary players and no "go-to guys" on offence at all. Hard to make any sort of run that way.

Jefferson is looking as overrated as I thought he would be with the Spurs. Granted it has only been 2 games, I just don't see him fitting in with their system there that well, and have never really liked him that much to begin with. I hope I'm right, because we don't need the Spurs rising back to prominence again.

Does anyone hate Reggie Miller's commentating as much as I do? Even when I ignore his annoying lisp, I disagree with most of his flamboyantly biased comments, most of which are put out there for shock value; like a non-funny version of Charles Barkley. He seems to favor all the teams/players I can't stand.

Also, **** the Nuggets. They beat the Blazers tonight.

Agreed. It's a shame, since I always loved watching him as a player...but he really makes the broadcasts almost unlistenable.

I'd say the near-20% shooting discrepancy explains the score there... ouch. Bad news for Jazz fans though, Portland will be fired up even more for Saturday night.
