OT: Reggie Bush: I am insane

Post#1 » by Newz » Wed Oct 28, 2009 1:41 pm

"Once I do win an NFL MVP, once we do win a Super Bowl, once I am in the Pro Bowl, it's going to be that much more special because of all the criticism that I had to come through and because of the work I've put into it, it'll mean that much more to me and I'll appreciate it more," Bush added.

I'm sorry but what does this have to do with the Packers?

There... I put OT in front of it.

Are you happy now?

Reggie Bush's cap hit more than doubles before next season and jumps all the way to $13.5 million. It's hard to see them keeping him around at that price tag.

The Packers could use a third down back like him...

Not for that much money though.

People should bring up the MANY articles blasting Houston for taking Mario Williams over Reggie Bush and Vince Young. Those would be pretty funny now. Of course finances had something to do with it, but still would be good.

Just off the top of my head, I'd take these running backs over Reggie Bush...

Rasta Williams
Ray Rice
DeAngelo Williams
Johnathon Stewart
Steve Slaton
Chris Johnson
Joesph Addai
Mendenhall
Kevin Smith
Tim Hightower
Beanie Wells
Ryan Grant
Lendale White
Matt Forte
Brian Westbrook

And, after reading many posts hating TT for not getting Bush in that draft I wonder who (anti TT's who aren't using hindsight) will step up and admit that was a tough draft spot for TT to be in...

I haven't seen many people (any?) hate on Thompson for not getting Bush. It take two to tango and you have to think the Saints were thrilled when he fell into their lap.

The guy I always wanted at #5 was Vernon Davis. For a while it looked like he'd be a bust but now he's a top five TE in the league. The player that every team at the top of the draft missed on was Ngata. I remember being super high on him when he was at Oregon. Then the draft came around and I just didn't give him much thought despite insane physical gifts.

Yup, I remember Vernon being the guy much of this board was clamoring over. Well, at least myself and DB were. He looked promising 2 seasons ago, but he really hasn't had much of a QB to throw him balls and display the type of skills that he has. He's gotten more opportunity this year with the San Fran offense more on track, though certainly still not anything too great. Smith obviously had something going with him this past weekend. Will be interesting to see how it progresses.

I was a fan of Davis when he was coming out as well...

I'm not too upset about it now that we have Finley though. I think Finley has Pro Bowl potential.

I was pushing hard for VD, but was "ok" with the Hawk pick. Now that we have Jermichael it doesn't really matter I suppose. Hawk was a consensus top pick so no one could really hate on TT too much at the time. But in hindsight it was a pretty bad pick. I think VD would be sick with a QB like Rodgers though.

I wanted Hawk. Second choice was Ngata. I'm not sure VD would have worked out here even if we had taken him.

NFL Live broke this down very well today. Not sure if anyone caught it, but basically: Bush is an athlete and not as much a football player, dances around too much and doesn't get up field for yardage, pathetic picking up blocks, and as a RB is 8th in his class in rushing yards since being drafted. Ouch.
