Kaman was one of the few bright spots in yesterday's game... He'll do better as the season progresses. Bynum just overpowers him with ease.

18 pts and 16 reb is bad?
If the Clippers win the championship next year I'm getting banned from RealGM

Look at his defense. Look at his focus and concentration. He's not a smart player. I'd rather try my luck with Brad Miller playing his minutes and help develop Deandre.

Also, 18 and 16 can be bad. Zach Randolph knows a thing or two about #'s.

Kaman almost went for 20/20 and Thornton just needs to come off the bench.

Kaman had a decent game, but he is always just so inconsistent. One play he's setting good picks, the next play he doesn't know where to go on the court. One play he's doing his Hakeem Olajuwon impression, the next he's doing his Keith Closs impression. Always shows flashes of talent, but can't put it together consistently.

Exactly. Imagine the influence a Bmiller could have on Griffin and Deandre. Brad and Camby is a perfect combo of veterans to teach our young players!

WTF?

Look, the Caveman isn't going to lock down anyone on defense, but he hustles, can score some and grabs quite some rebounds. If he keeps playing like last night and puts up numbers close to those(with that i mean a double double), while staying healty we should be fine in the middle and way better then last season.

Also, if he's healthy and playing and we still decide to trade him we should get more then the stuff you're putting up right there. I mean, he's still 7 foot tall dude and a double double guy in this league and that alone should net you more then that stuff.

As far as Thornton goes, yeah, i wouldn't mind trading him but small forwards with a bad shot selection, so so defense and little upside aren't the hottest trade bait in this league...

The one thing we have to remember that this is only the first game. Bynum has always given Kaman trouble and Bynum has obviously improved from last season. I wouldn't mind having Brad Miller and Camby on the team but, DJ isn't ready to be a starter yet and I wouldn't want to rely on two older big men. With Thornton I only had a problem with his shot selection. We are one game in and there is room for improvement, as the season progresses we should get better.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

Huh, got a new job then...

You really think a healthy Caveman can't put up a double double on this team?

Look, i know you don't like him and what not, but right now is not the time to trade him.

His trade value is at an all time low, given the crappy season and injury problems he's had last year.
We've also got Griffin down for about 6 weeks and Camby is as brittle as they come.
The worst Kaman would do right now is getting injured and being as valueable around the league as he's right now.
And if we do want to trade him, the time is when Griffin's back, because he'll play quite some minutes to this point and most likely will upgrade his trade value around the league.

But hey, let's just give him away for some crap, for whatever reason...

As fans, you guys kill me. Who out there in the NBA is better than Kaman that would be a viable selection for us to obtain? Maybe Gortat or B. Miller? I don't know, but I'd think that'd be a step down.

Also, granted that Baron Davis was ugly as far as points go (1 -10), he did contribute quite a bit in other areas. 8 assists, 4 reb, 2 stl.

I agree that Al Thorton isn't suited to be a starter, as he can be a selfish player, but the way he was pulling down the rebounds and his ability to score in the past shows that he is a cheap and great selection to be our 6th man.

Also to keep in mind is that we did go against a solid Laker team who won the NBA title and had the second best record in the league last year. Before we start chanting to trade such and such player, let's see how the team does a few more games into the season or at least until Griffin gets a few games under his belt.

Kaman is a beast and played really well the last two games. Al Thornton is the perfect 6th man while Rasual Butler needs to start to spread the floor in the beginning of the game to set the pace. The Clippers need a REAL upgrade for the back-up SG position as Kareem Rush or Ricky Davis will not do. He doesn't need many minutes, but just a decent defender who can hit a jumper if EJ gets in foul trouble.

Some guys on this site really dont seem to have any belief in there team lol I watched the Lakers game and i felt bad for Baron cause he had a pretty rough game but look at todays game, a big improvement. 12 pts, 12 assists and 5 steals, as for Kaman, he had another nice game.

Guys this isnt the first year you see Kaman play, right? He's an overpaid center who cant stay healthy and can't focus/keep his head in the game. All might be well now but the guy will drift off sooner than leter. Brad Miller would be the perfect mentor for our young guys. He had a huge influence on Noah too.

Brad Miller 48.6 0 -
Baron Davis 48.0 3 -
Marcus Camby 36.3 0 -
Blake Griffin 19.8 3 -
Rasual Butler 15.7 0 -
Eric Gordon 11.2 2 -
Sebastian Telfair 9.9 1 -
Ricky Davis 9.5 0 -
Craig Smith 9.1 0 -
Mardy Collins 7.4 0 -
Steve Novak 4.1 0 TRS
Kareem Rush 3.3 0 TRS
Brian Skinner 3.3 0 TRS
DeAndre Jordan 2.9 1 -
Sofocles Schortsianitis 0 0 -

1 year of Brad Miller could do wonders for the growth of Griffin and Deandre. Having Camby will help them develop on D, Brad Miller on the other hand might be the best mentor when it comes to big men and offense, passing and spreading the floor. Those two are a perfect combo. What makes it even better: they both expire after this year. So instead of paying the injury prone Kaman 42 million over thye next two years, being tied up, Brad Miller's albatros will be off the books soon.

Looking at the list above, it would leave us with the following guaranteed contracts:

Baron Davis 48.0 3 -
Blake Griffin 19.8 3 -
Eric Gordon 11.2 2 -
Sebastian Telfair 9.9 1 -
DeAndre Jordan 2.9 1 -

We keep our young and promising players, while we could resign Butler, Smith, Collins to decent contracts after the season's over. We're waaaay under the cap, making us major players on next summers free agent market, while offering any signee the chance to play with a very very nice core of

Davis / Telfair
Gordon

Griffin
Jordan

The amount of money tied up in that core enables us to sign one of the big names + build around the core with some nice complimentary players.

I'm sorry if you think trading away Kaman is stupid, but it helps us in the long run in more than one way.

The only one I'm sure I want gone right now is Dunleavy as coach. He can still be GM, but get us a real coach for pete's sake.

I've been pointing that out for long time. He's a good GM but no not a good coach.

Also I don't believe Deandre will be any better than Kaman in the future. Kaman gets overpowered in defense but don't forget that he can score against any big man in the league.
