NBA League Pass and Free Preview

Post#1 » by yungal07 » Tue Oct 27, 2009 1:05 am

Anyone interested? It's $135...I can *ahem* LS to us Wiz fans who paid only. Looking for hopefully 4-5 folks (or more - the more, the cheaper) so the split in pricing is around $30-$40 per person.

email me: alaroche04@gmail.com

*EDIT* The price just went down considerably. Now it's $90 to follow up to 7 teams. That's an awesome discount.

One big problem however. Local games will be blacked out. So if I sign up for it, it's blacked out because of my account's zip code. ugh...what a pain in the butt.

Ive been asking about League pass and other things like this lately but everyone seems to tell me that you can see most of the games for free on different sites anyways so its a waste of money. I also came accross this site called watchlivenba.com and I was asking around to see how legit it was but I got no response. It has a testimonial section on it but its blank and for the contact, it only has an email address so thats pretty fishy but I was thinking of getting it because its only $12.95 compared to the expensive league pass price

well, those other sites are illegal for one. Secondly, you're getting what you pay for when you watch a free stream....horrible quality, frozen or blacked out screens, or simply no feed at all. League pass is pricey, but every game you watch is going to be in crystal clear HD quality with no hiccups.

Again, if you're interested, please email me. I've gotten some interest so far.

Yeah, most are illegal but that site claims that its 100% legit and gets picture perfect quality. IDK though. Im just a little torn on getting the online pass because I might just get it for the TV. 30-40, its still maybe a little too much for me right now considering I still may be able to see alot for free or cheap.

It's worth it if you live outside the DC area. I get it and can watch almost all Wizards games. The only problem is that sometimes the feed is from the other team and the announcers are understandably focused on their own team.

Free Preview fellas. You'll see firsthand if it's worth it or not.

Use Hotspot Shield.. It's a proxy that should hide your IP address, and let you watch games.. If you have any other questions come over to the Raptors board, we have a big thread on that..

I'm on league pass international now with yesterday's being the first game I watched. It crashed live, so I had to use the pirate feed.

I did load it from the daily archives later though and the picture quality was excellent and I was certainly able to go full screen (some thread on some board here on RGM was saying that you couldn't I seem to recall). Unfortunately, there were still issues, specifically in that my connection was not fast enough to stream it. My view is that issue is that they are a bit paranoid about my downloading it 'ahead' in the stream, so they will only let me press pause and then load up a few minutes before it's back to I'm, watching what I download at that very moment.

Does that make any sense? What I mean is, with other sources, I can press pause, do some other stuff and then see that the video clip is ahead by an hour or what have you and then watch it without worrying about how fast my broadband is (and I must say I have never really said to myself, "geeze, my connection is too slow for what I want to do here"

So it's disappointing so far to say the least, but I can understand why they have to protect themselves to an extent as there are obviously lots of pirates.

I suppose the likelihood is that I'm going to get a faster internet connection as it would only cost about an extra $8 a month. But the truth is that I will probably be stuck watching the pirate feed till then.

But at least I don't feel guilty while doing it. Silver lining? Or maybe tin.

BUMP

I just got an email to renew my NBA League Pass Broadband subscription. The package allows users to follow 7 teams games via broadband for $110. Local games are blacked out so if your living in the DC area this probably wouldn't interest you, but if your an out of towner following the Wiz it'd be a great deal if we got a few people to join on one account and split the cost. If you're interested let me know and we can work something out.

Does that mean that the local games that otherwise would be available as part of the basic cable package are then blacked out, or does that have no effect on existing cable packages? I already get almost all Wizards games on cable, but a package to follow seven other teams might be appealing.

If it works like Football, local blocked out games are still blocked via internet.

Correct. The availability on the internet is based on the zip code of the person who gets the subscription. So you could give your login to somebody in another country but they'd still be blocked from watching Wizards games online because your zip code is in the blackout area. I actually did that with wermol a few years ago. He still loved it because he could watch the other games, but he couldn't see any Wiz action.

Wait, he could use a U.S. based League Pass Broadband account overseas? I didn't think that was possible since they created the International League Pass Broadband service.

I'll definitely be getting league pass again this year, but I live overseas. If I'm able to use the U.S. one, I'd be up for splitting that; otherwise, anyone want to split an International pass?

Btw, having used the service last year and then during the summer league this year, the quality was much better during summer league. Much more intuitive setup and faster streaming. I hope they keep all the improvements.

Does league pass show Preseason games? I think broadband used to do it but then stopped last year. Is TV or broadband doing it this year and if so, can you see all the Wiz games that arent shown locally?

After taking last year off (being lazy for the first 10 games then watching the team plummet into... whateverthehell last year was) I think I'm going to invest this year. Can't wait to see Wall and Arenas in the backcourt together.

I'm getting my slingbox up and running this season. If it's as good as advertised, I'll feed the games only to us Wizboard realgm members.
