Shaq is a DISASTER on the Cavs

Post#1 » by Captain_Caveman » Thu Oct 29, 2009 12:23 am

They need to deal him quick and try to build some chemistry with someone else, or this could cost them their season and LeBron in the long run.

The only thing that passed for offense on that team was a bunch of guys playing off of one of the most electric slashers ever. Now Shaq is just down there clogging the lane. Worst possible complement to LeBron imaginable.

And it's even worse on defense, which was the strength of their team after LeBron. He's just killing them out there. Not worth the 10 and 10 he'll give them. Not at all.

They got him for Howard, but does ANYONE have faith in Shaq being able to handle that matchup? How about no! Especially not by the time the playoffs start, when Shaq will be a worn-down 350lb 38-year old.

Cavs are in TROUBLE. They best do whatever they have to do to get Jackson and Biedrins from GS, and I can't even imagine what that would be. Maybe Jack/Maggette/Biedrins for Shaq and like 4,000 unprotected draft picks, lol.

They didn't fix their biggest weakness, pick and roll defense. We proved that in the last quarter last night. So yes, he's gonna kill the Cavs because he doesn't bring anything (besides his big ass) they already didn't have before.

Why don't people hold off on these proclamations such as this or the Cs bench in a weakness until at least 20 games have been played?

I said this before the season started. Shaq wasn't going to work out for Cleveland..in a couple games he will be coming off the bench..either that or traded before the dead line..Meanwhile, our biggest threat in the East Orlando, is putting up almost 100 pts over 3 quarters..they are going to be sick this year...

Canman, normally I would agree. I am not one of those guys who forms opinions game-to-game or quarter-to-quarter. But certain things are just obvious at first sight, such as how Sheed spaces the floor for us and how Shaq clogs their paint and hurts their defense. He might give them 12 and 10 with a couple of blocks, but guy is a fat liability on both ends. And he's out of shape. And he's about to turn 38.

The outcomes of these individual games are totally irrelevant in terms of the bigger picture. We improved, a lot, while they currently have some big pieces that do no fit each other, at all.

Don't get me wrong, I thought the Shaq signing was terrible for Cleveland, but I'd rather wait as I have been wrong before, although I know it is hard to believe

Right on, canman. I think this is gonna become a big story and quick. There is nothing about this that has a chance to work out for them. Fortunately for them, he's an expiring deal, so they might be able to flip him for some live bodies. And you can guarantee that Golden State's price is going up by the minute watching them play right now. If they were to offer Biedrins with Jackson, I imagine that they could basically get whatever they wanted from them, lol.

One can only hope these first two nights are an indicator as to how the Cavs season will go. I really hope they don't trade Shaq or Z. I hope they keep them both all season long.

Know who would be a cool replacement for Mike Brown? Avery Johnson. I got a feeling though, Avery wont coach again until nelly leaves the league.

About time, he's a terrible coach.

LeBron's just so good that he makes Mike Brown's X's and O's seem passable. Apparently, this is the only play they ever draw up anyway:

I think we should wait 20 games or so before judging

I wouldnt worry if i were you guys though if you stay healthy the Rondo/Allen/Pierce/Garnett/Sheed lineup is gonna murder any lineup with Shaq or Z (if they really have both in against that lineup ill laugh)
