Considering how this site is usually overrun with homerism, I can not believe that so many people are bashing Wallace. Don't you guys remember the offense getting stagnant at times? People posting that we need another "scorer"? 'Sheed to the rescue. Against Cleveland when he went back in for the last 5 minutes his presence brought a big man out of the paint and allowed Pierce to get some midrange looks. He even got two wide-open three-point attempts and if either of them went in it would've been game over.
He adds a totally different dimension than Perkins. If the team is struggling to score, pull out the big oaf, put in Wallace, and he can either get open shots all day or clear the lane for penetration from Rondo, Ray, or Pierce. Plus we lose very little on D as 'Sheed is big enough to match up with anyone in the league save for maybe Dwight. Plus, with him in there no one can go small because altho we haven't even seen it one time in the regular season the dude has some post moves to go along with that threeball. He shot over 50% every year in the league until he got the green light to shoot threes.
Through two games he has been fantastic. I have a friend who is a Pistons fans who says that Boston will never be able to control him for an entire season, but I disagree. KG and Ray managed to get the best out of Perkins, Rondo, and Pierce who were all questionable in the attitude department and I think playing for a contender with his buddy KG will keep 'Sheeds head in the game for the entire year. I used to love the Jailblazer teams with Scottie, 'Sheed, and Sabonis and watched them all the time on League Pass, this guy can really hoop. I used to think he was just as good as KG in those days but I never said it out loud lol..
Great signing, he'll be just what Boston needs if they meet Orlando and LA in the playoffs. Dwight and Bynum aren't going to know what to do when Perk subs out for Wallace. It's like a Rodney Rogers who can actually guard centers..
