Had the beginnings of a response the other day, then rebooted and lost it. Will try to repost again soon.

do u really think houston can go deep in the playoffs w/o someone to protect the rim other than yao? wat about yao ming insurance? how is shot blocking overrated, when champs always have top 5 shot blocking? spurs, pistons, lakers, celtics. look at the phx and dallas, both offensive powers, phx had amare for inside d, dallas had eric/diop, dallas goes to the finals, suns get to the wcf twice.
on ball shot blocking is wat we need, we have plenty off ball. yao ming is on ball, a guy like nick collison would be good enough. but when yao's in foul trouble or injured, the defense will be inconsistent, specially in the playoffs. teams will just slash to the basket and throw it up, and get our bigs racking up fouls.
Anyone who says shotblocking is overrated/unimportant is totally oblivious to basketball history. How about Bill Russell?? 11 rings in 13 seasons? The greatest shot blocker of all time?? Correlation anyone?
Hey are you that poster on the Suns forum that always talks about blocks and Stromile Swift?
You're right about the Suns - they had not only Amaré but Marion, as well as Steven Hunter, to block shots. The Suns biggest problem defensively is and has always been Steve Nash. Nash will go down in history as the only MVP winner to fail to make the playoffs with Shaquille O'Neal as a teammate in the starting lineup.
I think the Rockets are in trouble without better defensive presence in the middle. Stromile Swift is available. The Rockets should absolutely pick him up.
