Game 4: Dallas Mavericks(1-1) @ Clippers(0-3)

Post#1 » by Det the Threat » Sat Oct 31, 2009 11:02 am

After another 4th quarter breakdown the Clippers won't have much time thinking about the loss in Utah, as they're hosting the Dallas Mavericks in a back-to-back.
The Mavs surprisingly lost their home opener to the Washington Wizards, but bounced back by beating the NBA champs at Staples last night.

The Clippers are still missing Blake Griffin, while the Mavs are without Josh Howard and Tim Thomas.

When and Where?

Questions:
Will we finally be able to play a solid 4th quarter?
Will Baron keep attacking the basket?
Or will he settle for bad jumpers like late in the 3rd quarter last night?
Does Al Thornton know what good shot selection is?
Will the Caveman keep putting up those solid stats?

Discuss and Let's Go Clips!

Mavs looked pretty good last night.. Matrix seems like the Matrix of PHO, so he can be a big issue for us. I don't think any of our bigmen have good perimeter defense so Dirk may have his way with us as well.

But then... They play Gooden at C so..

I don't think we've had a whole lot of trouble with Dallas, but they're still a tough team to play. LAL,PHO,UTH have usually been an issue for us in the past. So let's hope this turns out to be our first win. :)

Baron better not get outplayed by kidd and barea or we won't win.

I'm officially giving up on Al. This is hard for me to say but id rather have Corey back. I think we should trade Al to the wiz for nick young. He can be a good backup to Eric and butler can start at sf. We can even package Ricky too and get crittenton as our 3rd PG. He's not even playing since agent zero is back and they have foye too.

Nah.. If you compare Corey to Al this year.. I'd rather have Al.. I got him on my freakin fantasy team just for his FT to balance out Shaq and Dwight, but holy hell is he screwing up the rest of my stats. His ass is on my bench.

Al did alright towards the end of last night's game when he was constantly getting to the FT line. He's gotta attack the basket more often. I think we've been saying that for two years now, but he just likes to shoot wild shots. If he keeps this up I'd rather just start Rasual and have Ricky take Al's backup minutes. His defense is just as bad as Al's, but Ricky can actually shoot the ball, has 3pt. range, and actually hasn't been a selfish ballhog while he's been with the team.

I predict we win this game against Dallas by 8 pts. Dallas just beat the champs they wont be ready for us, so yeah im predicting they will overlook us and we will control most of the game.
Plus Baron is playing better than kidd this season so far and kidd is so damn old he cant keep up with baron. i think butler n thornton will contain marion cuz to be honest marion isnt that good. he is a solid player but he is so up and down i dnt think he will show up.
Dirk is the only player Im worried about, but im confident in our big men so we will see and even if dirk plays well we will still win. And dirk is there only good big man cuz they dont hv bass no more and dampier is getting worse every season.
Kaman will have a good game as well as Camby and probably Smith and maybe jordan. Dallas is extremely weak as big men go and we are the deepest we have ever been.
Eric Gordon will hv a big game too and i'm sure we want this win more than dallas does.

CLIPS win by 8! GL CLIPS!

Agreed. Although Al wasn't as productive as we would have wanted to see him, he did demonstrate that he can get to that basket and draw fouls. We need to stop taking ridiculous shots (B.Davis and A.Thonton) and drive that ball down the Mavs throats, and leave the 3pt shooting to Butler and Gordon.

Stick to the gameplan boys!

Im hoping we can suprise these guys, as someone said theyve just beat the champs so maybe they'll overlook us and expect an easy win.

Im really hoping aswell that Al can play a good game, hopefully Kaman and Camby can control Dirk

Told myself I wasn't going to post in here til we got a win. Since that hasn't worked out I think imma just go with a new game plan. Anyways, we need to start Butler and bench Thornton. He has not been geling well with the starting unit. It will benefit Kaman when they double him down-low.

Go HARD! & Play LOUD!

Al has very low basketball IQ. I've said it many times, Al is a good player for a bad team. His stats are meaningless to me. Just watch him play. Bad shots and bad defense.

He's 25 years old and he's regressing. Hour needs to go on the bench and play the other team's second unit. I bet Singleton has a better game than Al tonight.

Look at the other sf we had in the past for dirt cheap. Matt Barnes, Singleton, and even qross are better than Al in in a team game.

Nice Game Thread Det. :)

I agree that Butler needs to start over Al. We need to establish a finishing unit (Butler needs to be in it, not Al) that can close games out when we have the lead. Instead of closing out the game, we've been fighting from behind after losing our 3rd quarter leads. Our guys do need rest, but that's the coaches' responsibility to manage substitutions and still maintain a productive output on the floor. They have chosen to let everything go to pot so far. Baron saw early success with driving into the paint, why start shooting outside? Sometimes you have to continue to wear the beast down, before you pull out the dagger and go for the kill.
