I COMPLETELY agree SacKingZZZ. May has actually been a pleasant surprise for me, and as SacKingZZZ said, he has amazing court vision. He seems committed to taking care of himself and playing some basketball, so I expect him to get better too, as he shakes some of that rust off.

It's just a matter of gaining the necessary body mass and putting those skills together--those sound like really simple things--probably even givens to some people. But we have to remember that they're not. Lots of guys come in to this league having seemingly everything they need to succeed and they never do.

I don't think Spencer's size (or lack of) is the real issue. IMO he's starting to look like Loren Woods. He doesn't want any part of the post. He'd rather play on the wing.

Whoa!

Hold up, wait a minute.

First, Spencer needs to man up. He needs to stop crying and just go out there and play his game. Sure, May sucks balls, but the fact is the Kings are so undermanned up front with Thompson, May and Hawes being the only bigs.

Second, Hawes is much better than Loren Woods ever was at the NBA level. It's not even close. The fact Hawes can shoot the J, along with his post game is an added bonus. If anything, Rodriguez should be out there instead of Evans at the point. Just saying.

1st - Hawes' "post game" isn't proven at the NBA level so lets not go there.
2nd - Mixing it up is fine, but Hawes doesn't mix it up.
3rd - Take the Evans/Rodriguez thing out of here! What does that have to do with Spencer Hawes inability to play his size?

Spencer's post game isn't proven, but it's great potential is very clear. Also, he most certainly was mixing it up last night. Whether or not that's a sign of things to come--we'll see, but it's certainly encouraging.

Im definitely going to give Hawes a chance to show what he showed us toward the end of last season. I think its all a mental thing with him.

I don't mind Spencer coming off the bench because he can bring excitement and energy, really doesn't matter who starts. May played only 9 minutes last night and Hawes played around 45ish, which he DESERVED. To me that is all it matters, all players have to earn their playing time. Beno came in as our 3rd PG this season and is proving he is not that bad, (still overpaid no doubt), but he can play really good at times and when Evans can't take the load, Beno is there to relief him. So really the saying "It doesn't matter who starts, its who finishes".... is true. Also, Mason should start, he has been pretty ineffective but he is a veteran who will come through when needed, he hasn't made unforced errors and Casspi comes in with the "super energy" from the bench which is NEEDED for every team. You have to balance things out.

Then start Nocioni. Mason brings nothing to the table. Can't shoot, can't create, and he isn't even that great at defense--probably just above average. Nocioni is a veteran, plays tough defense, and can spread the floor.

I understand that Hawes ends up getting more minutes than May, but I don't want to start every game playing catchup because May can't defend. And like I said, IF you want Hawes off the bench, I'd rather start Rock.

Evans
Martin
Nocioni/Casspi
Thompson
Hawes

I could agree with this for the most part. I think Noc should be starting right now (though I like Casspi, I'd rather have someone more experienced starting). I also would be interested in the idea of starting Spencer and Brock. Generally, I don't care who starts--it's who plays the most minutes that matters. If we had started Spencer yesterday, who's to say that when he went out that we wouldn't have fallen behind?
