I need advice on four potential trades...

Post#1 » by OldSchoolNoBull » Mon Nov 2, 2009 9:37 am

12 team, 9-cat, roto league.

My team:

Devin Harris
Derrick Rose
J.R. Smith
Shawn Marion
Chris Bosh
Mehmet Okur
Al Horford
Joakim Noah
Wilson Chandler
Louis Williams
Raymond Felton
Kirk Hinrich
Shane Battier

1. I was offered Tracy McGrady and Brandon Jennings in exchange for Derrick Rose. I turned it down, because Rose>Jennings and there's no telling how much T-Mac will play and how reliable he will be when he does. Too much risk. But the high-reward if-everything-goes-right end of this trade - if TMac stays healthy when he gets back and puts up good numbers like the T-Mac of old, and if Jennings keeps up his good play, it might be worth it to offer the same deal back to the same team. But I'm a die-hard Bulls fan, I love Rose, and I feel like there's too much risk in this deal. I guess I'm just looking for someone to tell me I did the right thing by passing T-Mac and Jennings up.

2. I'm thinking about offering the team from #1 Marion and one of Felton, Hinrich, and J.R. Smith for Mayo and Ariza. One, would this be a good deal for me, two, would the other team even consider it?

3. I'm thinking about offering Horford for Brook Lopez. Same two questions as #2.

4. I'm thinking about offering J.R. Smith for Ben Gordon. Same two questions.

#1. I'd still keep Rose. T-Mac don't warrant a place in a 12-teamer just yet, his future is still uncertain, no guarantees he will return and to form.

#2. Tough one. I still like the potential of Marion, but Ariza is on fire so far.

#3. Lateral move, I think Horford will be strong this year. Perhaps BLo outshines him, but only just. Pursue it though.

#4. Go for it. I do like BG a bit more than JR this year. JR will have to work his way back into the rotation, whilst BG's getting 30 minutes a night as a starter or off the bench.

1. Keep Rose. That trade would be horrible.
2. Seems about fair value. I might wait a few more days though (to see if Iverson hurts Mayo's production)
3. Don't bother (If I had Brook I would instantly reject that trade)
4. I think Gordon > JR ... but it doesn't hurt to try i guess.
