Is Raji healthy yet?

Post#1 » by El Duderino » Tue Nov 3, 2009 6:10 am

Going into the draft, Raji and Andre Smith were my two main hopes for Ted to grab. Raji did hurt his ankle after a holdout, i know this defense isn't exactly one that is designed for the lineman to stick out by making plays in the backfield, and he hasn't played a ton of snaps. All that said, i'm a bit concerned that he hasn't made a single notable play yet this season. I try to focus a bit on him if i see Raji on the field and when i have, he's not getting blown off the ball, but he's not pushing offensive lineman backwards either. Has anyone else rewatched games and seen Raji do anything impressive at all because i know that lineman can sometimes do good things without standing out to the general eye during a game?

There aren't too many DT rookies that make impacts their first season. I think it's a lot like rookie WR's. It takes them a couple years to adjust to the new speed of the game. I can't think of many DT's that came in and dominated their rookie seasons. Add the holdout and nagging injury on top of the learning curve and that'll do it. I'm not real worried. Like you said he hasn't necessarily been bad, so I can deal with it.

Down linemen aren't going to make a ton of plays in the 3-4 and he's been rotating.

The Packers are #4 in total defense on the year. I'm not that worried about Raji.
