Poaching Bobcats

Post#1 » by Andrew McCeltic » Tue Nov 3, 2009 8:58 pm

Charlotte- mediocre, financially limited - Scal, TA, Giddens, House = 4 expirings that could return either Gerald Wallace or Boris Diaw - strengthen our bench/wings but add serious salary
alternately, Nazr Mohammed or Vlad Radmanovic could be acquired for Scal/TA/Giddens to provide frontcourt depth - would the 'cats throw in a 1st?

Needing money doesn't necessarily mean trading your good players for trash. It would seem that the Cats want to compete

I don't like these options for us. From the available contract heavyweights (regarding our expirings) I'd still prefer Nocioni.

The Celtics are 4-0. They are primed to make a Title run if they can stay healthy. There is not need to make any changes whatsoever right now. And the Bobcats stink, but they aren't going to trade one of their better players 4 games into the season for crap. Plus, even though they stink, they're 2-2 right now. They feel like they can make the playoffs.

I stilll like the Nocioni idea aswell....though we would have to start really spreading bench minutes

adding gerald wallace on a team like the celtics would essentially kill any other chance that other contenders have at contending with the celts for a championship. There's a reason why he's KG's favorite player to watch. The guy's like a james posey on steroids.

KG's intensity pumping up Crash's already solid D + the rest of Boston's D = near lock for the title

Let's see how healthy we are later in the year.

With injuries, we might need a guy like Camby instead.

There is only one player I am interested in on the bobcats. And that is Raja Bell...he fits this team perfectly...

I like this idea. I wouldn't trade House, for the purpose of continuity, to add either of those guys but it would certainly be worth it to Ainge to make a deal like this, and it would probably go over quite well because it would make the team better. The Bobcats are really bad, Larry Brown is pretty old, and new management is probably eager to stamp their mark. I would be surprised if the Bobcats didn't seek-out trades that offers the club financial freedom so we might as well make an offer.

If we could trade any combination of Scal, TA, Giddens and Walker for Diaw or Wallace, how could we not do it? Those guys don't play anyway so using the argument that we don't need to get better @ 4-0 is really a moot point. Only if we're talking about a starter is that a legitimate argument because the worst thing for Ainge to do right now is stand flat. No, he shouldn't be calling every team looking for trades but if something like this comes along he would do it.

Wonder if the bobcats would preffer to have Davis on a smaller contract for a couple of years than Diaw if they continue to struggle.. package him with expirings once the 12/15(i think) date has passed..

mainly due to Shelden being a good fit with Sheed and Diaws ability to play SOME 3...

just a thought

I'd love Gerald Wallace on the C's. He's one of my favorite players outside Boston/Minny. But I don't see it happening.

Wallace is overpaid, for sure, and the only reason the Cats might trade him is because he's not a building block.. and our ownership would be going into Paul Allen/Mark Cuban/James Dolan territory with the payroll-

Diaw maybe...as much as i love gerald wallace where is he gonna play? Will he want to come off the bench and will the celtics pay him that much money to do so? Hes gonna have to back up the captain. Where else can he see minutes? If that trade can work and the c's dont mind the salary paid to a bench player you cant really say no but it seems unlikely at best.

**** no!

But we are desperately in need for a scorer, so how about Nazr+Radman+Bell for Pierce?

The Bobcats DO have to sell tickets and bring fans in for an entire year. its not ALL about the internet. LMAO. You expect them to give away the reason to go to games to 'save money''? Yeah ..it aint happening..
