Evaluating Jarron Collins

Post#1 » by Jimmy76 » Tue Nov 3, 2009 10:13 am

Well since we're two minutes into Collins career as a Sun i think it would be a good time to give the advanced statistical breakdown of his time with us

THE GOOD
He has a defensive rating of 98 (for reference Hakeem had a career average of 98) making him one of the the greatest defenders of all time and defense from the PF/C spot is something we need

He has a 29.5 TRB% making him maybe the best rebounder of all time (Dwight haz averages 21 TRB%) but oddly enough he literally never picks up an offensive boards (0 ORB%)but manages to put up his ridiculous stats by dominating the defensive boards with a 57.1 DRB%

THE BAD

He never gets a steal, a block, or get an assist ever, just getting these three out of the way

He is the worst offensive player hands down managing to make the Suns literally unable to score, probably because of a voodoo curse put on him by a gypsy because i dont know how else he could manage to completely nullify the offensive ability of all the players he plays with. Literally completely nullifies it because he has an offensive rating of 0. We never score when he plays. Never. Ever. Ever.

Oh wait nevermind its not a gypsy curse he has a TOV% of 100. It is 100% guaranteed with Collins that we will turn the ball over. As certain as the sun will rise Collins will lose the ball

PER: I dont know anything about this stat really but i know that Collins has -27.4 and that thats bad.

FINAL ANALYSIS
Despite being to comparable to Tim Duncan and Hakeem defensively and being the greatest rebounder of all time the fact that we will never score again as long as he remains on the court outweighs this fact. In conclusion:dont play Collins unless its a last second shot for our opponents.

He's obviously shown what he can do when he gets minutes(plural). With his efficiency I expect him in the starting 5 before Thanksgiving.

Sounds like he will come in handy to guard Howard.

with his defense of hakeem and the offense of a stone i don´t see him getting that many minutes
to help us.

are we playing defense? who needs defense? realy not the suns.

gentry will use him against guys like dwight and duncan.

i hope he´ll do fine with cheering for the starting five and i hope he can be a mentor
for rolo, anything more i´d be surprised.

Props to the great one

FACT: Jarron Collins is the only player in the NBA that can stop Channing Frye.

Brilliant statistical analysis. Thanks for that - FO needs to put you on the payroll.
The only thing we don't know is, are there any elbow/wrist concerns re: waving towels and cheering from the bench that we should know about?

can't do much evaluating at this point. Thru 4 games he's put up 3 DNPs and finally got 8 minutes vs. Miami. I'll evaluate him as he gets more playing time.

I didn't get a chance to see him play tonight. Is his tied-for-best +10 +/- because he was on the court when Nash was "putting on a clinic" (quote from Grant), or because he made that clinic possible?

or maybe you should go to basketball school. Collins just put himself in the MVP race with tonight's performance.

Wade had -8 so i think that makes Collins 18 better than Wade

Statistics don't lie - you can't argue with the numbers. Right, John Hollinger? John?

lol great thread.

collins played great against miami. made an impact immediately. the other players seem to like him- amare looked happy to play with him.

i understand collins is what he is but i think he will make an important contribution this year. he's already making a bigger impact than arlo. i hope we don't cut him and i hope he sees some more court time over the next month so he can prove whether or not he deserves minutes.

steve kerr gm of the year?
