Apparently, Holmgren mellowed out quite a bit in Seattle. I think if we bring Holmgren back, we wouldn't be getting the grabbing-bill-schroeder's-facemask Holmgren. But, I'd still be all for it. He'd bring cred and a tradition of GB success back. I just think we'd need to temper our expectations a bit.

Holmgren may not have grabbed the facemask of Jolly, but i guarantee that he'd have found him and gone off on Jolly. I saw enough games of Holmgren in Seattle to see that the strong intensity was still there and he'd never just brush off excessive penalties like McCarthy does.

As for expectations if we did say land Holmgren, Cower, or Gruden, i fully understand that a coach can only have big success if there is the talent in place to do so. Look at Childress. He's far from a top head coach, but the Vikings are still 7-1 simply because they have a very talented roster. Minnesota had a talented roster last year also, but as has been the case for them for a few years, the lack of a quality quarterback hasn't allowed for an otherwise talented team to win more games than they have. It's such an incredibly position in the NFL that usually talented teams have a limited ceiling if the QB play is very mediocre or poor. Now with Favre in place and adding Harvin, Childress looks smarter because it allows for the rest of the roster to shine without a poor quarterback dragging down the rest of the team with him. It also removed the biggest advantage that GB has over the Vikings, QB play.

If we did land Holmgren, Cower, or Gruden after this season because the team misses the playoffs this year, i think any of them could improve the head coaching position, but reaching say deep into the playoffs or a Super Bowl would be mostly on Ted improving the roster which i don't think has enough talent to be a deep into the playoffs team regardless if Holmgren was coaching it instead of MM.

LeRoy and Gilbert were talking about that Monday on 1250, how Holmgren would have treated Jolly after that penalty. They also said the vets would have got in his face too, something that didn't happen Sunday.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I'd love to grab one of the available coaches, Holmgren, Cowher, Dungy, Gruden (not a fan of Shanahan) but I also hate missing the playoffs and that's what it would take to make a change. And even then it probably won't happen.

You guys know how I feel. Its about winning and playoffs.

We don't even have major loss to injury to blame. You can't count Clif or Tausch unless your a blind douche bag and try to say that wasn't obvious and predictable.

5 yrs into it and are we still bldg for the future?
