If Rondo keeps doing what he is doing and the Celtics are winning at a very high rate then the coaches will vote him in. Mo, Harris, & Rose have very little chance. Arenas and Nelson are legit. Coaches understand what a pg should do and the value they produce when they do it correctly. Of course fans fall in love with PPG. If Rondo is the #1 assist guy on the #1 team in the east he will be on the team.

Also, if Rondo's negative rep continues, not sure the coaches will pick Rondo...maybe hurt his chances to be selected as a reserve.

CoughcoughDetroitcough.

So, if Rondo's going to make it this season, it'll come at Ray's expense. I mean Ray was an eastern conference reserve the last two seasons, but he did so in both cases as an injury replacement if my memory serves me right.

Arenas and Wade are virtual locks to start. Hell, Gil almost made it last season without playing a single game. People just seem to like him. Wade gets in because he is a beast.

That leaves the backup spots, and those are the coaches making those calls. You can pretty much pencil in Paul as a reserve (KG will start), and that means that one more Celtic will get the nod if we are doing well (almost certainly a lock).

The genie is out of the bottle now, after the playoffs last season. Rondo was our best player then, and he put up enormous numbers. Ray wasn't voted on by the coaches either, and I doubt that Mo Williams is even considered this time around. People might love Rose, hype wise, but the Coaches don't give a damn about stuff like that (reference Carmelo Anthony). They are going to pick the guys they think are the best, and I don't think that it helps Devin Harris that his own coach thinks that Rondo is better than him.

That means that Rondo will be up against Jameer, if only one of them gets on the team. I wouldn't be surprised to see them both make it, as the East is frontcourt weak. I think that Rondo's chances are really good.

Rondo put up enormous numbers against the Bulls - a team who tried to out run us and played overtime games every single time. I don't get why people like you seem to think this is going to be the "norm" for Rondo. It's a ridiculous assumption..

there are 2 starting guards (chosen by fans), 2 guards chosen by coaches and 2 wild cards (who can play what ever position) chosen also by the coaches.

Wade is a lock to start, while JoJo, Carter and Areanas will fight over the other starting spot. the other 2 will take the coaches guards position. To get to the ASG from the wild card Rondo will have to outplay all but one (or all) of Harris, Mo, Jameer, Rose, Brand, Butler, Jamison, Ray Allen, Josh smith, Iguadala, Gordon, Redd, Hedo (assuming the Forwards are KG, Granger, Pierce and Rashard and the centers are Dwight and Bosh [even though his not a real C, the coaches pick him] but they can switch with one of those mentioned before and it will be the same scnerio)

But, if a player is picked to play by fans or coaches, and gets hurt then Stern picks a replacement from any position he wants...
At short, he probably wont play at the ASG at all, not mentioning starting...

It would be SICK to see what Rondo could do in an AllStar game with players like LeBron, Vince and Dwight running the floor. Too bad it won't happen. It'll be Vince Carter/Gilbert Arenas and Dwyane Wade.

Besides making the All-Star team, I'll like to see Rondo as a participant in the skills challenge.

Rondo won't be starting this year, that's for sure. Outside of Boston and Celtic Nation, dude isn't very well liked at all, and even that might be an understatement.

Yup. The rest of the NBA thinks he is spoiled coattail rider. His little stunt with CP3 isn't going to win many awards. Most NBA stars understand what its like to be a great player on a crappy team.

If Detroit has .500 rate and Ben Gordon are still as hot as now. Noway Ben Gordon won't play ASG.

gah, mo williams is horrible. why the f do we mention him as a top guard?

and why is it carter always gets voted in, when he's not a better player then most the guys on the bench, he could sit out and not play till the week of the game and make starter, stupid.
