Players to Buy Low/Sell High
There were threads made last year similar to the Waiver Wire Wonders that were dedicated to maximizing ''profit'' off players bought low or sold high. I'm thinking that its time to revive it.
Maybe we could have a single thread dedicated to each or have a merged one like this one, suggestions are welcomed.
Here's my first set as of today
Players to Buy low:
-Corey Brewer
-Mike Miller (versatile stat stuffer overtime)
-Carlos Boozer (what is up with his weird stats?!? No way it remains this erratic)
-Rashard Lewis
Players to Sell High:
-Brandon Jennings (He might keep it up, he could also fetch something real nice right now)

Re: Players to Buy Low/Sell High
Loved this thread last year.
I'm thinking Mike Miller is a sell high. Ranked 50-60 at moment. Not gonna get any better. Rebounds will go down when Jamison returns.
Buy Low:
Nate Robinson
Nene
Barbosa
Ginobili
Sell High:
Channing Frye (Target: 50-60)
Mike Miller (Target: 60-70)
Carmelo Anthony (Target: 10-15)
Lamar Odom (Target: 40-50)

Re: Players to Buy Low/Sell High
Garnett is a buy low candidate there's no way he gives you 11 and 7 all season long. I think 17-9 is much more reasonable for him, also look for him to give you 1+ stls and 1+ blks...
Carlos Boozer is another guy playing poorly but who will eventually rebound he's averaging 12 and 9 right now, that's not going to last...
I'd try selling high on Chris Bosh right now he's a good player but he ALWAYS starts the season on a tear for the first month and a half and then "fades" (puts up his normal numbers)...

Jose Calderon thrives with the ball in his hands. And now with Hedo around, I think his stock shall drop this season. Especially with the kind of offense they run this season.

Re: Players to Buy Low/Sell High
My Buy Lows:
Kevin Durant: Sorry, but this guy is a top 5-6 fantasy player. No way he plays like Al Harrington all season.
Greg Oden: Talent+determination = priceless.
Gerald Wallace: He's the no.1 option on their offense (that's how sucky Bobcats offense is). He's going to get more shot attempts with the departure of Emeka Okafor.
Tyson Chandler: He's starting to get into the groove in the past couple of games. He just had a rocky start, that's why he's average are down.
Tyreke Evans: Yes, he can't shoot. But with the talent and opportunity he has, there's really a high possibility that he can achieve 15-5-5-5 kind of stats. (5 TOs lol)
Sell High:
Al Horford: His first two games of the seasons really inflated his averages for this season. When the rule of average starts kicking in, everything shall be normal. No way he can average 12rpg with 2.5+bpg.
Blatche: Once Jamison's back, his stats shall drop.

Re: Players to Buy Low/Sell High
I think John Salmons is a buy low guy right now. He usually puts up 18 and he's in a major shooting slump, but still getting a bunch of steals. Should be good for about 1.5 3pms
Willie 'Alien' Beamen: I'm trying to win coach. I ain't trying to disrespect nobody, but winning is the only thing I respect.

Shooting slump, yes.
But no way he's going to get aroung 15-18ppg with Luol Deng and Kirk Hinrich playing well.

Buy Low
Calderon
Shard Lewis
Devin Harris
Anthony Randolph (only if you can get him for VERY low)
Derrick Rose
Tyrus Thomas
john Salmons (yes, 3 Bulls)
OJ Mayo
Sell High
Andrew Bynum (purely due to injury risk. I don't think Pau's return will hurt his numbers, but last night reminded me how hard it is for him to stay healthy - he potentially strained his shoulder)

Re: Players to Buy Low/Sell High
Bump, in protest of not sticky-ing. I think this would be a great thread to keep going all year as the OP stated.
I'm hoping Diaw is buy low right now, 11 5,5 and change on a lot a stats, yahoo says he always plays well
Hawes is a FA right now too, Salmons, Diaw, and Grant Hill are my bottom bitches right now, do I dump Hill for Hawes? I already have Okur, Lopez, and M. Gasol to throw in at C.
Is Hawes a buy low?

Re: Players to Buy Low/Sell High
Hawes is a buy low. The new coach in SAC seems like he's not sure what to do with the roster at the moment. Once the Kings get another big as a back up, they will play Hawes more minutes. I think Hawes is about as productive as last year due to the new system, new coaching style, and overall abilities. If he is on a wire in a 130 player league I'd pick him up.
My ranks haven't changed much this year based on it only being week 2, so if guys are vastly out performing or under performing I'm not taking much stock until December.
I would ditch Kaman though. He is always an injury risk, and when Griffin comes back he'll lose value.
For all the hate on Memphis this year, the main 6 guys have put up respectable numbers. Based on the other 7 guys on this team, I'd say that those main 6 are going to put up decent numbers at least twice a week. I'd buy any Memphis guy in this order as of today - Mayo, AI, Randolph, Gay, Conley, Gasol.

It's time to sell Ryan Anderson if you have him. Most GM's should know the situation in Orlando but you never know unless you ask I guess.

Re: Players to Buy Low/Sell High
I think Jamison is a smart buy right now, and conversely Blatche is a good sell high.
Thaddeus Young and VC are pretty good buy lows, esp. if you can convince the VC owner that Lewis returning will hurt VC statlines.
Bosh might be a good sell high, of course you'd have to get a top 5 player for him.
Russell Westbrook might be worth selling high too. If he could only get those TOs down.

Re: Players to Buy Low/Sell High
Just a few players I think you should sell if you can get similar ranking value. Mostly based on abnormally strong shooting starts to the season with a few other things taken into account.
Sell High
1. Ben Gordon
2. Andray Blatche
3. Louis Williams
4. Larry Hughes
5. Josh Smith
6. Mario Chalmers
7. Andrea Bargnani
8. Beno Udrih
9. Anthony Morrow
10. Zach Randolph
Buy Low list is mainly players who have started season shooting terribly/way below career averages with a few other things taken into account. Obviously you won't be able to get them based on their current ranking, but should find some value.
Buy Low
1. Gerald Wallace
2. John Salmons
3. Kirk Hinrich
4. Thad Young
5. Mike Conley
6. Grant Hill
7. Amare Soudemire
8. Caron Butler
9. Monta Ellis
10. Kenyon Martin

Re: Players to Buy Low/Sell High
I disagree with you about Mario Chalmers and Andrea Bargnani. Chalmers is posting more or less EXACTLY the same statline as he did last year...
http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/4496
As for Bargnani I he's just continuing what he did last year, especially if you look at his post-all-star break numbers...

Just crunching a few numbers when their shooting %'s level out a bit, and you're right. They'll only slip 10 or so places in the rankings. So they should be there abouts for most of the year.

Re: Players to Buy Low/Sell High
I like this thread
Any ideas on any sell high guys or guys to buy low on
I think you can buy low on Devin Harris has started slowly being back from injury. Caron Butler is another that comes to mind or even Aldridge
Felton has had a few games in a row so it might be time to get something decent for him.

I'm looking to sell high on Thaddeus Young, AI coming means less shot, and Brand moved for a contributor could also limit minutes.

Damn...should I blow my #2 waiver claim on him? 14 team league.
