Kahn said before the season, that he and Rambis would go over after the NBA season was over to watch the end of Euroleague and decide on Pekovic.

[Don't think Kahn was planning on going deep into the playoffs this year...]

Pekovic is a very good player. Absolute steal for a second rounder IMO. I have followed Panathinaikos this year in the euroleague and he is a low post offensive force.

Yeah who do you think he compares to in the league right now...I know some here have said Jefferson, but I would like to believe we wouldnt need to pay $10mil plus a year for him to come over.

I am not saying we have to trade Pekovic, but as has been said earlier, it would be tough to have him, jefferson and love...especially when we have other needs that a trade of one of them could help us attain. We also have to understand that some of our best choices in the draft might be big guys depending on where we draft...favors, montiejunas, aldrich, monroe, davis, henson etc. (not a draft thread...i am just giving examples)

nice offensive numbers, but how does a big man commit 7 turn overs.....yikes. Bad hands, bad passing?

Pekovic is the best center in Europe since Sabonis. He is worth 10 Rubios.

He'll be a bench player in the nba.

You are right about Rubio but very, very, very wrong about Pekovic.

tell me has more upside/and talent than kevin love, al jefferson with a straight face.

Do it.

He is definitely far better than Love. He is also better than Jefferson, but that is a bit closer to compare.

what's wrong with being a bench player in the NBA, I can name lots of very good bench players. That isn't so much a knock on him, most 2nd round picks would die to be a bench player in the NBA.

Sorry if I don't think he's a slam dunk starter in the NBA, but you I'm sure have seem him play much more to judge that. I think we'd be lucky if he turned into a good 6th or 7th man, a guy who can play 20 -25 minutes a night backing up Al/Love.

Yes i'm so tough, you got it! Watch it!

You realize he was a 2nd round pick because he had 2 years left on his contract while in the draft, no buyout clause. Also, it is known that unless you picked him early he would never come over because of the rookie salary restrictions. As a 2nd round pick he can be offered any length or sum of money.

I agree it is not always a knock to be a bench player, but your tone was it is a given he is just a bench player, nothing more. When from what I have seen, read from multiple articles, and stats show that he is a viable player that will contribute at a starter level.

I know Rev sees him potentially starting here and us moving K. Love or Big Al. I see us moving him in a deal where he will be better suited and will become a starter for whomever team trades for him.

He is right about what he says on Rubio but not on this. Pekovic is much better than most NBA centers and he is only 23.

We have bigger needs. I believe we are fine with Jefferson/Love downlow, and in the coming draft or two we can add another Big who is younger, and more athletic to our fold.

I agree with you, if we can trade him to a team who values him as a starter and will allow us to move up in the draft or maybe aquire a pick or player of need that would be perfect.

I think it's a safe bet to assume, our Gm views him more as an asset than a core player for the future. If Pekovic is willing in the future to come to the league in the future, it would be dependant on him wanting to play for a certain team, for a certain amount of money, because he has a good gig going for himself in Europe right now, where he is the man. He's a big fish in a smaller pond ( talent wise ), over here he's just another big.

Not true. The stars of Panathinaikos are Spanoulis, Diamantidis, Batiste. Pekovic is about the 4th main player of the team.

DraftExpress has a listing of top foreign players that have rights held by NBA teams, and he ranked either 2nd or 3rd (behind Josh Childress, probably behind Rubio also). He's coming off a year where he led his team Panathinaikos to both the Greek League and to the Euroleague championships and then followed it up by leading Montenegro to the championship of the 2nd division of the European Basketball Championships, sending them to 1st division next year. I think he has an opt out in his contract after this season, but he may have played himself into too big of a contract over there for us to compete with under the NBA CBA. We'll probably offer him MLE money to come over, but my hunch is he'll probably sign an extension over there and we'll need to wait another contract for his price to drop. He doesn't cost us anything to stay in Europe, so he's a good asset to have stashed.

Pekovic was ranked behind Childress and Splitter last year. This year he is probably 4th with Rubio moving in above him.

Pekovic was considered to be much better than Marcin Gortat, of Orlando. Gortat (restricted free agent) was offered the MLE by Dallas and Orlando matched last summer.

Pekovic has real trade value. Though he might not be a good fit with jefferson and Love... all three play "below the basket".

Are fans here serious? Draftexpress rankings? This is beyond laughable. Pekovic is many times superior to Childress, Splitter and ESPECIALLY Rubio. Rubio should never be compared to him and he is leaps better than Rubio. Childress? This must be a joke.
