Caron "Grape Drink" Butler Must Go Now!!

Post#1 » by JWizmentality » Sat Nov 7, 2009 1:51 am

Can't hit a layup.

Can't shoot worth a damn. The stutter step thing...seriouly wtf is that? Stutter Stutter...whiplash headfake...shoot. Lather Rinse Repeat. It's so predictable. How about some variety?

Can't really blow by anyone.

As someone previously noted, get this guy back on the Dew.

He's playing on offense with no purpose, and seems very unmotivated on that side of the ball. Weird, because i think his defense has been pretty good this year.

Maybe he's still adjusting to the new system, but he does not look good.

Let's re-unite him with EJ! See my Caron-for-Brand deal in the Trade thread.

Butler is playing poorly, but I agree with go'stags that it's probably just him adjusting to the system. Butler is a smart, multi-skilled basketball player. He'll figure things out eventually.

"Tuff Juice" used to let the game come to him. He'd score within the rythmn of the offense, he get others involved.

Now he thinks he needs his numbers, he does nothing but force jumpshots or try to play 1-on-1 and he does not look to pass at all. 3 assists through 6 games is simply awful under any circumstances.

He should have been benched early and often LAST season, but Tapscott put it in his head that he can do whatever he wants and not be accountable. The bad habits have stuck around...

He is now almost exclusively a jump shooter. Rarely drives anymore, and often has trouble finishing when he does attack the rim. Dribbling deficiencies exposed. Too small to post up opposing 3s. Not moving/cutting without the ball on offense=indictment of Flip's offense.

Most importantly, the ball stops moving now when it gets to him. Curious, because as a point forward at times over the past two years, he has had a decent amount of assists.

Perhaps we can rename Tuff Juice - 'No Juice'...
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

Give him three more games and if he still sucks, put him on a strict Mountain Dew diet.

Seriously seems like he needs some caffeine pep for the games. Maybe get him on the 5-hour energy stuff? How startling though, is it that he has a combined 3 assists in 6 games?! Hopefully we can look back at this thread in 20 games and laugh, but that's just startling.

Again I want to comment that Butler has "lost all acrobactic explosiveness" that made him great when he first got here and was competing with Jarvis Hayes.

Key word is "LOST all of his acrobactic explosiveness"
Build your team w/5 shooters using P. Pierce Form deeply bent hips and lower back arch at same time b4 rising into shot. Elbow never pointing to the ground! Good teams have an engine player that shoot volume (2000 full season) at 50 percent.Large Hands

So I'm guessing he won't settle for Diet Mountain Dew? :(

Butler is great at making tough shots in the paint usually with contact but his jump shot is mostly gone this season..Maybe he does need to go back to the Dew?

He needs to be benched. Too bad all of our SF depth is injured. He needs to be sent a message.

What the hell has happened to this guy? It seems like he's forgotten how to play this game.
