Saturday: Denver @ Atlanta

Post#1 » by HMFFL » Sat Nov 7, 2009 5:08 am

Atlanta favored to win by 2 points.

Over/Under 214

Divisional Games:
Charlotte vs. Chicago

Nuggets forward Kenyon Martin left Friday's game with a leg injury and will not return.
He's very questionable for Saturday against the Hawks, so get him on your bench if you can. rotoworld.com

I don't see this as an easy win by any stretch of the imagination. We should be good enough to hold serve at home more often than not even against a quality team like Denver, but anything can happen.

No K-Mart, no JR worries me. Plus, Denver generally fares pretty poorly in Atlanta.

If we win this game I might throwup. There is no way you lose to Charlotte by 20 and beat the Nuggets.

I might throw up if we lose (well if we play poorly). The Charlotte game was the last game of a road trip with a potentially undefeated opponent the next night. It was a classic trap and we fell in. We need to bounce back and prove that our effort against Charlotte was aberration by holding our home court against an injured, but very good opponent. Our players have no excuses to take Denver lightly with or without K-Mart.

DOes anyone think that Al Horford can become a smaller Nene?

Also it still baffles me that Josh doesnt do this every game, hed be a perennial all star if he did

Horford just has no sense on offense. he is posted up in the lane and gets the ball 5 feet from the rim and doesn't even try to score. Instead he passes out immediately to Josh Smith for a long jumper. Smith made the shot but it is still a dumb play.

when you are posted up 5 feet from the rim with one man on you it is time to man up and take it to him.

Nice to see the hawks shooting well though. Hopefully they can keep it up.

Looks like JJ should call the team out more often.

Smith has a really nice statline going. Looks like the hawks will be 5-2 without Bibby/JJ really finding the range on their jumpers so far this season.

No doubt. I'll stay quiet about Joe until it's known that he's hurting the teams chemistry because I have wanted him to be more vocal for years now. Media or on the court.

Hopefully we stayed focused during the 4th.

2 quick points

1. The refs calls in the 3rd quarter were almost as if they had money on Denver. It didn't affect us winning the game but it really seemed like they were doing w/e they could to find a way to get Denver back in the game. Some of the fouls Melo was getting were jokes.

2. Teague was the top on my draft board at the time...but **** Minnesota for trading that pick with Lawson on the board. I still have no idea how he fell to 18 anyway. All this guy did was stand out individually in highschool and college and taking his team DEEP into the tourney every single year and he fell to 18 in a crap draft? Why couldn't this guy have gone in the top 10 like he was supposed to so I wouldn't think "what if Minny kept their pick" everytime I see him play.

The team responded with wins vs good teams after both times Joe called them out. They also went on a 6 game winning streak immediately after those 2 games were Woody benched Smith in Charlotte and NY. Maybe it takes things like that to get this team to wake up from time to time.

Seriously Minny can go to hell. I hope Rubio never comes over.

Smith needs one more rebound for a really pretty statline.

well, joe got the most shot attempts tonight. so i guess we wont have to listen to him call out his teammates for not knowing their roles. tad sad joe couldnt outscore josh and jamal after he cried and got twice as many shot attempts as them lol

btw, what annoys me about the announcers is how they focus on josh taking 3's so much. and act as if that any shot 2 inches inside the line is ok lol. if he is going to take a jumper, might as well be from 3pt range because he isnt any better taking htem 15 feet away from the basket lol

Good win. I think last night was just a trap game at the end of a road trip like Evil said. Very pleased with the effort tonight, we were clearly none to pleased with what transpired in Charlotte.

It's early on, but I think we can be sure that Smoove is back to his shotblocking ways. Man did I miss that.

Still loving Crawford. This is the perfect role for him.

johnny...not that I disagree with you that Smith shooting shots a foot inside the 3 point line isn't annoying-but it's proven time and time again that Smith's worst months offensively are the ones when he's taking more 3s. He's been a notorious slow starter because he comes into EVERY year thinking that this is the year where he's actually learned how to shoot. This is the 1st November since his rookie year where he's given up the 3 point shot and he's shooting over 55 percent the floor. He never even hit 40 percent the 1st month of the 2007,2008,or 2009 seasons.

I started wondering if we'd be forced to play Randolph Morris most of the 4th quarter as those fouls kept mounting. My did they get whistle happy.
