Rubio for Rudy

Post#1 » by Chi town » Sat Nov 7, 2009 4:11 pm

Rubio for Rudy. You get your starting SG of the future and POR gets their PG. This would obviously happen in the summer so Rubio could get bought out and come to POR.

Thoughts? Tyring to gauge value of both players as I think IMO this would be a great trade for both teams. Good fits for both teams in areas of need.

Rudy Fernandez Sucks.

starting SG of the future? Oh please let us be as good as portland is....nope Ricky Rubio will either come here and be our pretty boy superstar, or he will be traded for someone valued much higher/greater potential.

I wouldn't go so far as saying Rudy Fernandez sucks, but I think we can grab someone better in free agency. We would have to overpay to get Fernandez.

joke right? Rubio should be worth an allstar caliber player or top 2 or 3 draft pick. Rudy isn't that.

I guess i should've clarified that Fernandez doesn't "suck" he sucks as part of this deal, lord knows the wolves would benefit from him now, but Rubio's future/value is way too much to give up for a player like Fernandez, I personally love the situation we're in now. With us tanking this year...probably bottom 8 teams and based off the last 20 years, we won't move up in the draft, we are in a position to give rubio+our draft pick to either land someone of all-star level or getting ourselves in the top 2-3 draft picks. Wolves Future FTW.

Neither team will pull the trigger.

Portland wants to compete now rather than waiting for Rubio and Wolves feel Rubio has more value.

We don't have to give up our draft pick and Rubio to move up. Just Rubio alone should get us a top 3 pick.

He is playing in the second toughest league in the world after the NBA. He would have been a top 3 pick last year, if people knew he would sign. If he was available in the draft this year, do you think he would be top 3?

Draft express has their board

1) wall - PG
2) Favors - PF/C
3) Warren - SG
4) Aldrich - C
5) Donatas Motiejunas - PF/C
6) Davis - PF
7) Turner - wing
8) aminu - SF/PF
9) Henson PF
10) monroe PF/C

there isn't another PG after wall until the 19th pick.

If someone wants a great PG prospect we should be able to make a good deal. Maybe Rubio for Turner and the other team gives us something else, like a future 1st round pick, or a good young player.

I doubt it. McMillan has a bad reputation in Spain and Ricky never play for a team coached for somebody like Mac. Portland knows it and never change Rudy for (probably) nothing.

i'm very high on rubio, i obviously am very excited for him to come and play here if we do keep him. I think he would've been the #2 pick in this draft had he not had the buyout issues. my point with that last post was that i'm appreciating the fact he is competing in the 2nd most difficult league and learning while our team is too. looking forward to the future with that kid.

Great example for playing overseas: Brandon Jennings, look how solid he's doing now, his numbers in Europe weren't even that decent, just goes to show how tough it is playing over there, and Rubio can actually light it up over there, and he held his own in the Olympics. I'd say he's worth a superstar or a top 3 pick forsure.

Not everyone who struggles in the Euro league can have a breakout rookie season like Jennings is having.

It's amazing how high some of you are on Rubio, saying he's worth a top 3 pick in this years draft or a superstar. I like Rubio as much as the next guy, but you can't expect him to come into his rookie season and have similar success to Jennings. I hope Ricky can exceed your high expectations.....

I would put money on it that if Portland offered a package of Rudy/future 1st, or Rudy/Bayless, Kahn would pull the trigger.

I sure as hell wouldn't call Rudy a scrub, the guy is very underrated, and I would absolutely LOVE to have him on the Nets as the starting SG.

not all of us over value him....

id gladly move him for a pick 5-8 type ...get a turner/aldrich for him and im happy. I'm more than happy with Flynn as our future PG, we are set there...

time to address our SG/SF positions long term. We can do that with rubio/pekovic asset, top 5 pick next year and FA money next summer.

Some NBA Execs have called him a "once-in-a-generation" player, and David Kahn has gushed about him having qualities in passing and running a team that you "can't teach, you have to be born with."

MIN will hold onto Rubio, and probably not even entertain offers until he's closer to coming. No one wants to be the GM who traded a kid with this kind of ceiling too early.

meh i watch him play , seen every game this year, he hardly strikes out as a once in a generation player lol....get real thats a KOBE/LEBRON type....he simply he isn't that.

He's a young kid, who is a real nifty passer, who has no shot whatsoever, and often forces things too much. He will be a good nba player, but you guys who talk about once a decade players are kidding yourself. There is a reason he dropped to 5, and it's more than just the buyout.

He's a 9 p 9 assist guy in the nba.....in his prime...far from elite....great passes, no shot, not very phsyical, some strong nba pg's like westbrook would destroy him.

Exactly. He was drafted 5 in a weak draft. I think Flynn will be much better than him long term. Rubio will largely become a product of his environment IMO. If he plays with a superstar he will excel in the sidekick role. I like Rubio and I think his value will be high and Kahn was very smart to trade Foye and Miller to get him.
